My possibly artistically challenged idea of what this Mech's cockpit should look like.

Now that looks a lot more like an Orion, doesn't it?

I loved piloting the Orion in MW3 and hopefully will love piloting it in MWO when it hits the server :P.

Was never a good looking 'mech. Then again what is, compared to a Catapult? I like this interpretation though, its cute. Especially the Marik symbol on its thigh which looks like a purple pikachu with long ears.

I hope the Devs see this because this is what it should be. Have nothing against what has been done to the design as a whole to give it that MWO feel but the cockpit always gave it that signature look.

True. You don't need more than that cockpit to know it's an Orion.

Here is one great art (not as good as MWOs, but you can see the cockpit):

I think it will be the Banshee or the Mauler. Both have interesting traits. The Mauler is a very nice looking mech with a really nasty loadout for this game. The Banshee would be mostly used as a different Atlas, Once the engine is downsized, it's pretty much the same mech overall(Hardpoints move arround, but once it's customized, it would do mostly the same stuff). (Not that I wouldn't like seeing either it OR the Mauler).

They havn't been necessarilly going by tonnage slots as much as role slots for each mass area (eg several 2 50 tonners and 35 tonners) Filling every single tonnage slot isn't as important as actual gameplay IMO.

I think the 20th mech will be the last Inner Sphere mech for a while (till after the Clans are fully "introduced") Probably introduce the clans with 4 mechs (Madcat and 3 others) We'll see though.

Banshee-Armour value the same as an Awesome, slow speed and weapon of a light mech (with no upgrades) = Battlefeild suicide.

Mauler-Armour value a little bit better than a Catapult (12 tons to be exact), Equiped with weapons same as a Stalker, and slow..= Battlefeild suicide.

A Pillager or Annihilator would be the better choice..

Pillager has one big problem... only 2 variants in this time period.
Mauler / Daboku has the same problem... only 2 variants (excluding the German only 1PT5)
Also, Pillager is 100t, and Mauler 90t. Still missing the 95t slot.

Banshee is the ONLY real 95t option available in 3050.

The Nightstar only has 2 legal variants for 3050 (the 3rd requires Ultra AC20s and LBX20s). It, however, was introduced in 2767.
In 3054 the Cerberus comes out, and it has 3 variants that use current tech.
Naginata is out in 3055. And it uses C3 tech... so...

95 tons is the least used tonnage in Btech.

The next Assault will be the Banshee.

Oh, and I really like this Orion design.

Suddenly, red triangles popped up with the familiar ‘ping’ following.
“Targets spotted sir, looks like.. six enemy Mechs. Five, wow, Kyudo-D-01s held together by duct tape and tinfoil, and.. a Mackie. I cannot believe I am seeing this. Kyudos are ’custom’ with a medium laser and SRM-4 each. All with very patchy armour, awful colours and skulls – definitely pirates sir.”
“Roger, I’m on the Mackie. Priority targets are the eastern-most Kyudos, Stevenson. Darius, Johnson, you’re on the western-most. I will join you shortly.”

The goons appreciate your tribute to us in this next mech, surely it has been blessed by Lowtax and The Mittani (praise be upon him).

I'm guessing we'll get the ON1-K, ON1-V, and ON1-M at the very least. I hope we'll also get the ON1-VA, and perhaps an interesting *cough* Aleksandr Kerensky *cough* Hero variant.

Realistically, we're looking around June if not July before this Mech gets IN to the game.

As a 75 tonner, it has some great variants and loadouts. Tons of potential, unless of course, PGI decides that its ballistic bore clips with the arm and it gets the same fate the Cataphract did (at which point, it's time to look for a new Mech modeler)

I disagree. Definitely has the old cockpit but it's sorely out of place.

It's a really rough approximation of how it could look much more like the original, it's not even color matched. I wish I had the skill to show it as it I've imagined it, but that was the best I could do with my limited skill set.

Now if your just saying that the basic design of it is out of place in general, then I strongly disagree.

Doesn't look bad, but I much prefer the OP one. Just becaise the oringal TRO art looked a certain way doesn't mean it's the best. Also cockpit design is something that often changes drastically. (Look at the Mustang WWII Fighter for example)

Umm the Banshee upgrade the Steiners make on it is the most effective Assault mech in TRO 3025, and it stays effective post 3050. The Mauler is somewhat low in armor, but it is a firepower heavy mech with plenty of slots for all weapons types. Plus it doesn't matter what stock loadouts are, because the majority of people customize their mechs. Lots of people would probably downsize their ERLLs, add more armor ammo and heatsinks Then release the DAKKA of a sustainable 4 AC-2 mech. Stock armor doesn't matter, the 90 tonner could take 17 or so tons, and under most cases would.

As for the 95 ton slot. I don't think filling each tonnage slot is the main concern of the game design. A Banshee doesn't bring any real new play options to the game. It's a slightly smaller Atlas, it even looks fairly similiar (and I bet would look more similiar in game)
I would not be disappointed at a Banshee, but I think a Mauler provides more interesting gameply options.

Wouldn't make any sense releasing the Annhilator until after the Clans are released. It's a mech where you can run 4 Gauss rifles. That would pretty much make all other snipers obsolete.

There's a chance the Annhilator will be released, but I wouldn't expect it in 2013 if I were you.
