Dam_it! Alex, this game has a serious lack of a mech named after a certain Greek god who liked to throw lightning bolts... just saying.

I'm not sold, but that doesnt mean i'm not impressed. Nice concept. I'll be interested to see some specs. Is it fast? Energy based? Sounds fairly balanced. ECM making an appearance?

I've been waiting sooooooooooo long for this announcement. This was one of my favs in MW3. I'm just bummed that we won't be seeing it for half a year (at least) given the current mech release schedule. I really want this thing now. =(

That thing is hideous.

And why does it have PPC's? Is that a PGI variant?

In any case, I guess it's not as ugly as the Jaggermech.

Come on!!!! When are we going to get our re-seen?

Though I dont ever remember the SN-PPC being a part of Star League Era tech or timeline anywhere, the text must have been from a revised or newer sourcebook I'm not familiar with. I stand corrected. +1 to you good sir.

Actually, they are from the first Star League sourcebook (FASA#1630). In fact, it was published in 1988. That means snub-nosed PPCs predate the introduction of the Clans. However, they were never statted as a weapon at that time

They could implement them, and have them as a restricted tech to the Hero mech (although this would cause some complaints).

Eh, the way I look at it, everything is going to cause complaints. I say go for it. There will always be someone who likes it, might as well not limit yourself based on the knowledge someone's going to cry.

Thankfully not, though after Dragon Flame and Fang introduction I reckon we'll get enough P2W PGI "Hero" variants.

These are just medium lasers in armored sleeves. Artwork is trying to be true to both old artwork and TRO. Orion lacks hand actuators, though only carries med lasers in arms. There's also controversity with SRM pack. On a default model ON-1K SRM pack is placed in left torso in record sheet, but art shows SRM tubes in the left arm around laser in this large protecting sleeve (same thing with Cicada 2A lasers - in arms on the artwork but torso-mounted according to record sheet). On other Orions SRMs are placed in the arms by the record sheets. Looks like this ON-1K is true to the record sheet and is at some disadvantage when compared to V and VA models with SRM launchers in both arms.

Hell yes, Orion. I doubt there's anybody who ever played MW3 that hasn't got a soft spot in the cockles for this stompy battlewagon. Sure, it wasn't the most optimal mech that ever got minmaxed, but it looked ancient and primitive and menacing. It had gravitas.

I like this version of it a lot, but I have to admit I am not a huge fan of the redesigned head. Yeah, I know the classic Orion face had that vertical bar right in the center of the windscreen, and that's problematic when you're translating it to a first person cockpit view. But the pilot's seat doesn't have to be exactly in the middle of the head; he could be off-center looking through the left or right eye like in the Atlas.

That story with the pic... I keep thinking '...Was that Kerensky? Awesome....or rather, Orion.'

BTW I'm glad to see this long-expected smaller Atlas cousin announced (and other variants will certainly have their own flavour with multiple arms-mounted missile hardpoints), and the artwork is brilliant at attempt to produce something manageable from the old ugly design (though perhaps it would've been better to depart more from it like was done with Centurion). But this doesn't excuse the LOOOOOOOOOOOOONG wait after BlackJack announcement. I still hope that we'll be shown something next week to celebrate coming holidays and have round number of announced IS battlemechs on the eve of 3050.

Artwork is not without faults though, right side looks too cramped with right arm not having enough free space to be either hung straight down along the body like at "atten-shun" or freely swung left without having AC barrel blocking it. Wider shoulders of Atlas help it to avoid same problem.
