Yup exactly...Solaris style one on one.
Variants, pick any for each chassis...just a little hypothetical fun!

However the Atlas is the mighty hammer of war.
The awesome is great but way too large making it a big target for 20 tons less.
Atlas > Stalker > Awesome

Tell that to the DDC that my 3F slaughtered with dumb fire close range weapons.
Right now if you are in a Stalker and get into a close range brawl with any other assault and you lose, you are doing something horribly wrong.

3f can hit 59 and turn at almost 90 degree angles to both sides all of the others cannot but they would win at range

SRM6s are KING right now and the Stalker can have FIVE of them. Along with FIVE medium lasers. Thats 100 frickin damage. The closest an Atlas D-DC can reasonably get to that is 75 damage (x2 medlas, x3 SRM6, x1AC20).
So the Atlas is like derp derp 75 damage. and the Stalker is like BAM 100 damage. BAM 100 damage.
Atlas needs more hardpoints. period. Either that or the AC/20 needs a significant boost to make up for the lack of hardpoints. Because it just doesnt cut it now. The only reason to even consider the Atlas over the Stalker is ECM which is sad.

thats someone doing something wrong he obviously didnt take you seriously enough a square alpha would have put you in bad straits or killed you with a head shot its not your mech but your piloting that was superior. Stalker up close will lose to an atlas properly outfitted for CQC too much more armor you cant stand toe to toe you have to be maneuverable again you must be the superior pilot. this is a straight matchup on even skills with the different mechs

again you must be proficient enough to get in real close and drive all those missiles to a localized spot which is quite hard with even skills the atlas with CQC in mind will core you with direct fire weapons while you pepper him with missiles and probe with MLS

uh its not hard at all on any map other than caustic to get up close to an atlas. theres an abundance of cover on every single map besides caustic. and even on caustic all thats often required to get close to an atlas is a bit of patience.
And no an atlas, no matter how skilled the pilot is, is not going to core an equally skilled stalker before he dies. The damage disparity is too great. The Stalker is doing WAY more damage. I can blow off an Atlas' side torso in two volleys then often finish him off with a third volley. Its 100 frickin damage every time the Stalker fires and it only takes about 130 damage to take down an Atlas so if you get point blank to an Atlas hes DEAD. And if you ever get a shot on his backside hes WAY DEAD.
But since matches arnt 1v1, you can certainly make a case for the Atlas. But in 1v1 the Atlas has no chance.

srms still shotgun even with artemis its not the damage you do its where you place it they ALL NEED TO LAND ON CT in order to properly focus the damage the acs atlas carries or LLs or what have you will land square if you try to line up a shot on his ct that close I know i pilot one with 6mls and 4 srm6s you gotta know your mech and your opponent peppering him with his back turned or strafing between buildings and letting the side torsos soak up damage while you ruin him is the way to go if youre one on one

It's not hard, use cover until you reach the Atlas. And then plant your mech in his face and tear it off with SRMs.

see thats not what im talking about you have to get CLOSE to make all those missiles land on any one spot you cannot go for ct or he will simply line up on you with his full barrage if you overheat at anypoint you die standing toe to toe and exchanging fire with an atlas who knows his mech as well as you know yours and is built for CQC is suicidal

Obviously. Thats why it takes 3 volleys to down an Atlas. If SRMs didnt spread out you could kill an Atlas in 1-2 volleys.
The Stalker does ludicrous damage compared to the Atlas and in any 1v1 situation the Atlas has no chance whatsoever against a Stalker which moves faster, has way more firepower, can abuse vertical terrain better, and mounts more heatsinks because all its weapons only take up 1-2 crit slots.
Like I said, matches arnt 1v1 though, so the Atlas has a very strong place in 8v8s, especially with its ECM. But in a 1v1 fight, the Atlas has absolutely no chance. Ever. It has a serious lack of firepower for a 100 ton mech.
