Just throwing weapons on mechs is a mindless activity.

Let me start a poll to see how many people actually don't want clan tech in this game.

This is what this thread for!
Seriously, IS mechs are born to rely on hard-points. Even when we might get an Omni-mech they will not be open to mount everything in unlimited numbers - you would simply need to replace the chassis component pod (arm/torso sections) with a different one, that would have different amount and type of hardpoints and substructure, but limits will remain.

- OmniMechs, a concept introduced by the Clans and later adopted by the Successor States of the Inner Sphere, feature hardpoints with interchangeable weaponry whereas classic BattleMechs have a fixed configuration.
Bold and larger for clarification....be happy we have any customisation.

This poll is asking for non clan mechs to have omni hardpoints. Yours pretty much is just saying do you want clan is more refering to people actually wanting clan mechs with omni hardpoints.

Hardpoints are as integral to Mechwarrior as heat generation is.
Are they? HEat generation has been i every mechwarrior title and is inherited from the Battletech table top game. Hard points? Not really. Mechwarrior IV had a concept that resembles it somewhat, but not fully, previous titles didn'T have it at all, and Battletech does not allow modifying your mechs. You can create your own if you like, basically as a house rule, but modifying them is not generally allowed. You needed Omnis for that.
I am not opposed to hard points, though I tend to think that MW4s approach may have been better, since it also considered size of weapons hardpoints. And it also had direct-fire hard points, which I believe is missing in MW:O.
EDIT:
This might be one of the most one-sided polls in the game. I suppose the 3D View Mode thread may be similar one-sided. I didn't know the community could agree on anything.

The point is for the mechs to have some uniqueness. What would be the point of the Stalker otherwise?

I understand the point. I agree with hardpoints. Just not with the current hardpoint system. It hurts some mechs way too much and makes other mechs way too good. MW4's system was infinitely better.
