We were being crushed and it was down to last 3 of our team, and this one guy runs off to the cave to hide and shutsdown. I would understand this a week ago, but today? He got really upset when I told everybody what he was doing, and I'm now "reported", lmao! He was so scared to get his mech destroyed. REALLY?!? What kind of a dumbwit does this today? There is no repair or rearm cost, go fight you sad little loser. Yeah pointless rant thread. Deal with it.

But everytime your mech dies, a piece of your soul is taken along with it!

The topic isn't "Dumb reports you would make knowing it doesn't lead to any punishment". The topic is about why would anyone try to preserve his mech in a game where there is no consequence for being destroyed?

Clutch your KDR's tight this Christmas. Because they mean something.

They do it to preserve their KDR. I have mixed feelings about it. On the one hand it prolongs the game by a several minutes because the other team has to run to cap to finish the game. And there is a possibility that your team could have won the match if they had made a last stand, or stayed in the fight a little longer.
On the other hand if they contributed to the fight/strategy, there is no reason they have to die just so I don't have to wait an extra couple minutes.

As for the reporting, that is ridiculous. You no more greifed them by giving away their location, than they did by not assisting your team.

For the same asinine reason people Alt+F4 out of games to avoid dying.

If I only had a dollar for every time I have said "A high KDR only matters if it is earned," I could bail out the US economy. ¬_¬

The nerve of some people, the least he could have done is find until he was almost dead and then "disconnect".

I played a match last night where I was the last one standing. The other team still has 6 mechs left. I hid and shutdown and was blasted by the puggers as a coward. The thing is I was the one who killed the 2 mechs and I had 690 damage. Not a single other teammate had over 150 damage. What's worse is I was in a CDA-3M.

Now, if you want to call another player derogatory names and not look like an *****, then at least be an avererage pilot. I don't know what your score was, but a teammate who is fighting on his own the entire match without help from the other teammates gets to decide how he wants to fight the fight and the others don't have a say in it.

If you don't get 150 damage and you don't cap, you might as well have just disconected at the start of the match.

Hiding when your the Last guy and shot to pieces is not the same as hiding when you still have team mates fighting:)

It might have made more sense if he was the last remaining player vs 1 or 2 enemy mechs and powered down, hiding close to the enemy base to get the other team to avoid killing him so he could try to pull off a base cap win. Doing it when there were 3 left on the team is just stupid.

I've seen plenty of Streak Cat A1 pilots do this when they run into a single ECM mech.

It makes me wonder if the phase 3 matchmaker will place these guys against teams they have no chance of beating just because their stats are good due to disconnecting to avoid deaths.

I had 600+ dmg in that game and he had something like 180dmg. So I wouldn't give him the "retirement" excuse. He could have done much more.

KDR didn't even cross my mind. It is not visible to anyone, why would you care for it? Only you can look at it at the forums, and might I add it's hidden so that a new player probably wouldn't even find it (I know I had no idea where to find it when I started this game). Really sad people out there.

I'm with MadPanda on this. If I'm the last person left, and it is obvious that no resource win in a conquest is going to happen, I just go attack and get it over with. Just look for a heavily damaged enemy and try and get a kill out of it at least.

Having said that, in a conquest last night, the other team was up 4 mechs to 1, the 1 raven on our team killed 2 heavies and 1 assault mech and almost won it on resources for us. They ended up winning on resources 750 to 730. One of the few really close conquests I have seen.

In that case, it was cool that the last person played smart and almost won it single handed...he didn't just go hide until the other team won though.

Every last stand I have every made ended horribly. Except one.
That one time is the reason I don't hide and shut down, it makes every negative hit I have ever taken to my KDR worth it.

But some people enjoy the sim and survival aspect, and who am I to spoil their enjoyment.

I guess we'll know which players sync-drop and/or disconnect when others start matching stats to observed performance in games.
