I'm curious as to how many people the devs are planning on letting into the closed beta, say between tomorrow morning and Saturday night (first week or so). Im wondering what the odds me getting access are, or that of my lance. Will ANY of us even have a chance? or is it like a .05% chance per person?

Just a straight forward estimate by a dev would be nice.
How many will you have/want for the following times?

End of Week 1:
End of Month 1 (day 30):
July 17th:

I'd just like to estimate my chances, see if its worth hoping/praying.

PS: Feel free to email me the bribing link with monetary amounts required :P

You're asking the developers to do math? Really?

Yep, heck they made the game. If they can calculate the tons, cash and all that, I believe they can easily say 4,000 for 1st week, or 300 for 1st week. Not that difficult I believe :P

And I would estimate my chances via

Do math for work AND fun? Now that's insanity. Of course you have to remember they're likely to give Paul a little clicker and just invite till he stops clicking. To random to count.

Come to think of it I can't think of a game in history to put up numbers like that... Maybe I just haven't paid attention.

They have said there will be 'thousands', and that the closed beta will continue to grow.

I would really like to know official statement on this too... they said it will be thousands, now we have over 108000 registered on forums

if half of these people have filled the beta thing in their profile and they let 5000 users in its around 10% chance

I wish they just taken everybody whos been on forums checking the thing atleast little bit prior this day and have the specs in profile

dont get me wrong, but people that are huge battletech fans will probably be more capable of helping developers than someone who
just today learned about such thing and cant tell between atlas and gundam

It depends on what you're looking for. We've seen several threads already where BT fans and MW fans start arguing about which version is better, and it seems like both groups of hardcore fans can be bringing in some preconceived notions about what should and should not stay true to the established rules in their favored variant.

A new player would at least have fewer preconceived notions about what 'should' be in the game, and may provide some good information about how it feels without those ingrained prejudices. After all, it shouldn't be just a good Mechwarrior/Battletech game, it should be a good game period.

Sounds like they will stagger it slowly and add load until they find a good point.
They aren't going to over invite more than necessary, theirs packages in June.
Thousands over the next couple months, that should have them ready for their floodgate test in July.

you right,SOME "noobs" will be better for beta testing than SOME people that have been into battletech/mechwarrior thing for years but...

generaly most of the old school hardcore maniacs ( simply people that have good knowledge about this ) are more helpfull.

Paul will probably rule out anyone whose name he recognises ie insulted him - which automatically rules out a lot of us. Aegis will of course top the list - unless he's already playing as the exception to the rule ;)

Funny using the Atlas and Gudam comparison. Though you have to admit that without Japanese Mecha Anime, Battletech may never have existed. I mean take into account the Unseen and Reseen mechs. Many designs came from Super Dimension Fortress Macross (Robotech in North America).

If 100,000 people purchased the $30 package.. Piranha will make + $3,000,000
There's a statistic for you ;)

I've searched for this "thousands" via Twitter and everywhere else but cannot find it. I know I seen it, but can't remember where *too many posts read and posted in to remember* and for the poster that said "300" was pretty close.

As it stands as they've posted, 1,000 of the first 7 days = 142 per day or a .87% chance that you would get selected for the first wave of closed beta invites.

Funny looking back on this since is seems sooo long ago lol

Where did you get the percentage chance? Do we know how many people are signed up?

It's at the bottom of the main forums page, which has actually increased since I did the math.

1,000 / 7 = 142

(.87/100) x 114800 = (0.0087) x 114800 = 998.76 (round up = 1000)
