They'll build one with this engine once they have MWO nice and stable bringing in cash each month to pay for it. Until then divided labor would spell the doom for both projects.

Way to Necro Post.

Let it die. PGI is working on Mechwarrior Online, not Mechwarrior Offline.

Non-sarcastic Answer: It takes considerable time and resources to script events, AI, missions, voice-work, etc.

These are not things that are relative to the (still unreleased) game that they were working on right now. Let's get MWO stable and flushed out, then we'll talk about other things like AI and Single Player / Co-Op missions.

This game is attempting it, I'm very interested to see if it works out (blending Storyline, linear PvE and online sandbox PvP).

So many things would need to happen for this to ever see the light of day.

Maybe the MW:LL team has time now :/

I like the idea of a single player, however I would place ahead it, a coop campaign, and ahead of that, a fully fleshed out interplanetary war of the factions and clans, featuring objectives, built in VoIP comms and commanding / team leader abilities, drop ship insertion and extraction, persistent CW type struggles for planets, pre and post briefings, ways to track the progress of the conflicts, ranks. Basically everything the single player was trying to emulate in a multiplayer experience.

Hey guys, drop your unfinished multiplayer game and make a single player game! This original idea that has never been heard before on the forums is going to make baaaaaaaank!

I'm sure all of us playing MW:O are saying "Yes, please, move your programers and artists to an entirely different game! We're all good here!"

Jesus Christ. Stop. If you want to petition anyone, you should petition IGP, as they might commission another team to make a single player game, like how they've done with MW:Tactics. But PGI is in no condition to start work on another game, they're still working on this one!

Although I am slowly becoming accustomed to MWO and the idea of a multiplayer MechWarrior title; I miss the total immersion that I had with MW4 and Black Knight. For me a big part of MechWarrior has always been the overall story, working through campaigns towards an objective. The things that I took for granted like the Repair bays (Shunned by many MWO pilots) and the pre-set mission objectives are very important.

I find it hard to come to terms with the idea of not buying a game; for someone who has been an active computer gamer since space invaders (1979) the idea of Micro-transactions is weird. However if that's what it takes to get a Single Player, campaign based MW off the ground then I like many would go for it.

Yes a single player game would be great. PGI or other is fine with me.

No I would not pay in advance. I don't trust PGI to complete a project in a form in which I would have given them money to do so.

I would love another SP mechwarrior game. But be damned if Im giving PGI anymore money before I get to see a completely developed and finished product. I don't trust them at all and I disagree with too many of their design choices.

Hilarious that guy before me says the same thing. I didnt see that post as I was replying from the top page. Glad to see Im not the only one feeling that way.

If I were PGI, I would add a single player campaign as an unlock-able 4,000-8,000 MC pack. Each campaign pack would have players play 4 or so missions and when they finished they would be given some cbills and a special hero mech for doing the campaign. Of course while players would probably love this idea, PGI would make more money just selling the hero mech for 8k MC ;)

Meh maybe single player missions; however, Id rather they wait until after the MMO before developing any single player standalone game.

As much as I would love this. The devs have more important things to do right now and for the foreseeable future. It would be nice, but PGI has enough of a man power crunch as it is.

Ohh boy man would I love a CO-OP sort of add on. Where we don't just load into x-random map beat each other for 5-10 min and no immersion. Don't get me wrong, yes there are bugs, but so far I am ok with what they have done for the PvP. Is it perfect? No, but is it bad? Besides being a beta (which has bugs of course) they did a decent job. But imagine this: besides the regular PvP a CO-OP option and with it a Star-Map. Factions would have defenders on planets (PvE aka AI's) and attackers (the players). We could drop down in lances on a world to take it (or get our ***** handed if we underestimate our enemies). The Star Map would be in a constant state of change (with some worlds having less defense and some more) but the players will be each factions attackers. Mercs can join a a "House"squad for a mission for a price ... gods you could do so much with it but .... it would take time to develop it and the cost would probably be huge. They would have to create an interactive planetary map, people would have to band together to play a CO-OP Mission, one heck of a server to keep track of all the missions, transactions, contracts put out by NPC's Maybe even the Solaris Arena .... yeah might be undoable but IF they did it it could be grand .... just imagine instead of SP a CO-OP basically permanent campaign. With new missions constantly, where we would have to keep track of the commstar news to see what is going on where and if taking contract X might not be a good idea because someone just attacked that planet for a mission and now their defenses are increased .... dang ... yeah nvm ;) The idea is epic tbh. The immersion would be beyond belief but dunno if it would be doable. But if they could pull it off after having MWO complete live and reasonably bugless then by all means please do so .... I would LOVE something grand like that. We could live for years in the MW galaxy and maybe the graphics might be outdated somewhat in 4-5 years but meh look at WoW those graphics are horrendous and people still play it. Just imagine being able to play in a constant changing galaxy ... no LIVING in it ... sheesh ok shutting up now haha

this game NEEDS a single player mode or story mode if for no other reason new players need to learn HOW to play/aim/drive.
as a whole this game is awsome but I find myself constantly rage quitting because Im constantly grouped with window licking crayon eating helmet wearing dddduuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurrrps
over and over I find myself on teams full of assaults that cant even break the 100 dmg mark

As a MechWarrior fan, a single player game would be great. Just like with the Battlefield and Ghost Recon series it would give you time to practice your marksmanship and piloting before jumping online. As a programmer, creating AI routines that are not monotonous and easily defeated is much MUCH harder than creating a routine that allows human players to interact with each other. It would be much easier to create several more online game modes than to create an offline single player campaign. It is just less expensive time wise.

Unless someone wants to toss $20 million at PGI to hire the staff to do a single player campaign, there's no point in even considering it.
