PGI should NOT, I repeat NOT, be the ones tasked with creating this. Would still like to know why the hell BT:U went on hiatus, and why exactly PGI bullied MW:LL into shutting down.

In recent years, the original Halo game was re-released onto xbox 360 with improved and polished graphics.

I wonder if the Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries campaign could be remade as a 1-4 player PvE game? That is take the story to MWO (as its set before and during the clan invasion) but beef up the original contract missions and add a extra contract missions to freshen up the story arc. As an example, you never got to work for house Marik or Liao in MW2 mercs.. contracts could be created for them.

Who remembers doing your training with Hansens Roughriders and 'Deadeye' in his catapult as your instructor? Oh, the nostaligia!

I'd like a single player campaign.

But lets finish the First game before we start a second. (or finish the first two before we start a third/fourth if you count MW Tactics)

I'd rather see a good PvsE campaign.
I like the idea of this game being MMO, and if i don't see any troubles in fighting swarms of mindless IA foes, what's the point in being alone or teaming up with dumb IA when you could team up with real players?
Apart from the (funny) tanks-crushing part, all i remember from the solo campaign of the previous MWs is that you end up doing the exact same thing that you do now in PvP, with enemy forces being unable to react as a real player can.
So, not for me, sorry OP.

Warthunder has PvE Campaigns.

But they are not a huge hit, because people prefer to pwn other peoples faces.

No thanks, I'd rather they just sell the license.

PGI doesn't have the license, IPG does and they don't own it therefore they cannot sell it. Microsoft owns the license and they can license MechWarrior to anyone they like. The fact that they haven't licensed it for a single player games tells me that nobody wants to make one because we know that Microsoft will let anyone make a MechWarrior game (of any caliber); just look at the {Scrap} MechWarrior games made for XBox.

Based on what? I wasn't going for constructive criticism anyway. This is an entirely hypothetical situation. I believe that PGI have flubbed MWO. Why should I then feel that they should be the ones to do a singleplayer campaign. Sounds disconnected.

I have also checked out their previous titles, none of which led me to believe they would be a good fit for a singleplayer campaign in the MWverse. I'm not sure why you think this crosses a 'line'. And what ignorance was I displaying? What nugget of information do you have that would indicate otherwise?

Bold for emphasis, which is why people like you and Vassago are generally labeled as trolls and dismissed off hand.

How about we let them finish this game first. If they start another project now, neither will get done, both will fail, and then we have no mechwarrior at all. If this game is a success THEN we can get more games in the future, including a single player one.

I'd settle for the ability to drop on a map of our choice vs AI controlled bots.

Call it an enhanced testing grounds.

i dont think mwo will ever be 'finished

my opinion that its a free to play game pretty much in open beta for ever adding items for profit
(not maps and features of course but with battletech being so expansive this has possibilities and hopefully not just simply adding new mechs with a gamemode or two)
Most/me want/will pay for a singleplayer campaign but im betting its going to be a standalone release possibly even higher priced then 60$

Would it be financially a good decision? Why make a customer purchase a one time 60$ full flegded game (High Cost to make , High Quality, High Content , - AKA: lots of mechs that you would possibly shell out 100$ to own them all in F2P)
when you can make hundreds or more out of one player with MUCH cheaper costs to make the content in free to play business model

I think money is going to delay a single player campaign even after MWO has been developed rigorously
(Gotta milk it before it dies eh ;) )
250k to develop ONE MAP?!
400th post!

I definitely would like to pay a single player game. Although it might be better to farm it out (like MWT) so that PGI can focus on MWO

I never wanted Mechwarrior "Online". I wanted Mechwarrior 5.

"Online" Means that all the immersion, all the lore, all the emotion gets stripped right the hell out of the game and is replaced with nothing but bland "Who has the highest score" E-sports mentalities and Min-Maxing metagames.

I'm happy that we have ANY Mechwarrior game at all. Compared to what we had with MW4, this is far more balanced and far more enjoyable if we're talking multiplayer. Still, while matches on the short term are entertaining, the long-term game is just "Grind to get better. Lather, Rinse, Repeat".

On the plus side, the number of people coming out to try Battletech Tabletop has doubled if not tripled, and their adherence to the Battletech-style customization system - or at the very least keeping it looking like the Battletech Record Sheets, has made introducing players of MWO to BattleTech SO MUCH EASIER than it was to introduce MW4/MWLL fans to the franchise.

At least I am happy this thread survived for a year now!
I still hope that one day we will get our single player game.
Okay not 2014 but lets be patient here. Just compare the situation now with December 2012. The game has grown considerably. And in a year from now we will finally have CW and Clans implemented. Hopefully a few more maps and game modes. Paul just stated that they are already working on turret defense as a first PVE element.
I think we can expect to see more PVE coming in 2015.

Ans although I agree that PGI will probably milk the F2P cow for as long as possible, they also seem like guys that like the BT franchise. Maybe they need to become millionairs first ;) but I'm sure they would love to make a single player game.
Many people write "Yes - but not PGI" I ask you: "Who else has anything close to a working BT game?" There have been many issues with PGI and the playerbase over the last years, but we have noone else.

Pre-order a solo-campaign?

PGI, you know how much I've spent already: I'm in.

Sure for an offline game. Separate from this one. This is Mechwarrior: Online

And I may pay for a founders-style-kick start pack.

All they really have to do is add campaign play to this, even co-op campaigns for 12 player support.

But we can wish and dream and hope and pray and bribe and cry and scream and... post.
