The other team had 3 ECM mechs and decided to base rush with 4 mechs. I let them capture our base about halfways then I RTB.

4 mechs were just sitting on our base. I had a ECM Raven wingman with me. We killed everyone at our base and then continue to search and destroy the rest of the other team.

Why are people base rushing? Is this why....because they aren't bringing loadouts designed to fight other mechs? Hasn't the reward of base capturing been reduced to almost zero?

There are myriad other threads out here addressing the exact same thing.

First objective of assault: Capture the base
Second objective of assault: Kill the enemies

There's your answer.

So the First objective has a reward of a serving of brussel sprouts while the Second objective's award is 10 birthday cakes.

I'm not disagreeing with you on the reward (I do like sprouts though!)... but if you load an assault map and look at the objectives as it loads, that's the order they are in.

Additionally, assault is not Team Deathmatch, so if someone caps your base... well then meh. The rewards were removed because folks used it as an easy win button to avoid R&R, but now that R&R is gone, there's really no reason not to have a reward for capping. If the community wants Team Deathmatch, then PGI should implement it in a Solaris format or something similar.

I agree. This game mode is pretty broken right now.

Considering that you get paid more for killing then for capping. I'd say your wrong here. Capturing is just a secondary objective. If that weren't the case, they would have left the cap reward as it was.

Besides, you have a cap based mode anyway. Its called conquest.

What do you mean it was removed because of R&R? They changed how it worked in the economy patch. The same day they removed R&R. What you said there makes no sense at all. hahaha

Nope, it's you that are wrong.

Assault has a base cap for a reason, it's to provide tactical options to both teams.

Team Deathmatch just means you find the enemy and kill it, nothing will effect your objective in a TDM and that is why Assault is different.

If I move to cap your base you HAVE to react to it, which changes the tactical situation. Without it there it would be TDM, which thankfully it's NOT!

Nope.

^Read em and weep.

The new assault system was implemented the exact same day R&R was removed. So him saying it was removed because of R&R is not only nonsensical, but flat out wrong.

Base capping = win. Some of us are here to win.

a win is a win

If given the choice I will always go for a win. Even if the reward is zero. Because I like to win. ;)

If winning happens to involve demolishing some mechs on the way, then i'll do that too.

Thing is, They NEED a base cap thing in a TDM style match, which is basically what assault is. 'Cause if they didn't, then say losing team has 1 light mech left alive, he can just run off and hide in a corner of the map shut down. Forcing everyone still alive in the match to wait for the timer to expire for a draw, which would rob them of salvage.

The base cap thing is fine, its nice that you get rewarded for fighting, and not for capping a base. Being forced in to good fun is never a bad thing. Base capping without a fight was pretty lame before anyhow so.

I made a thread about this yesterday. The problem isn't a couple guys capping after most of their team is dead to try to pull a win. It's the people that rush it without even trying to fight that puzzle the hell out of me. They're literally getting almost nothing out of it. Can I just assume they're terrible and know they can't win in a fight?

Maybe because people are bored of straight TDM?

Sometimes it's actually fun pulling a win without having to kill enemy mechs. Actually says something for your team if you pull a victory like that and the enemy team couldn't counter it.

Yup. But some folks loves them some Brussel sprouts, and I'm a diabetic so 10 cakes aren't always the right thing to have.

See how decision making works sometimes Stone? Plus there is a perverse pleasure some folks get from causing threads like this one.

Ya Totally.. Cause i mean. winning means everything.....

Theres nothing gained at all by winning without a fight. Its like a match I had some time ago, one of the ravens on the other team never fought the whole match and just went around capping the points while our team ***** his team. They ended up winning the match due to points but we didn't care. Why? Cause we got more Cbills in our loss then the other team got in their win. 100k vs the 36k which would you rather have?

Winning only means something, if there is something to gain from it. If by "winning" you don't gain anything, then you really didn't win, you really lost. 'Cause you just wasted your time in a pointless endeavor.

Every now and then running a straight cap for lolz is more fun than Brawl #3,164. I don't really find myself caring much about the rewards in the matches these days.
