Why Doesn't The Awesome Get Any Love?

I want an Awesome that is balanced for the game that MWO has become. Not balanced for the MWO that was supposed to have DHS at full 2.0.

So they are perfectly capable. Though i will admit they can get dissasembled pritty easily compared to other assualt mechs ..but thats what an Awesome is..it has less armor ..faster speed .. and 1 completly usless arm that is good for blocking incoming fire

I enjoy using it as u dont actually see many ..and when u do most of the time they have stupid loadouts which completly ignor heat management, then those pilots wonder why they get ripped to shreads when brawling with a Atlas or cataphract or the like.
i think once Energy weapons get some heat tweeks and/or DHS gets a buff ..the Awesome will be a bit more succesful for most ..and even more succeful for those who already find them a great mech.

<S>!!
PS> btw no it doesn't make more sense to pilot a stalker because with an awesome you can really 1v1 the stalker and come out on top. like the OP stated, and he's right.
atlas might be the best choice for assault indeed but that's a given... 100 tons, ballistic, ecm... it's like a mech for people who just don't even want to try
(i voted EQUAL to other assaults, IE stalker, it's kind of inferior to Atlas like i state above)

On this particular match I was minding my own business, raining LRMs on people and just generally enjoying myself when an Awesome snuck up on me... I am not quite sure how he managed to pull that one off, but he did. Then I saw his load out, 2 LL and 4 SRM6. Well ****, I'm screwed. I also noted that he had taken very little damage. So I did what any real Mechwarrior does and cracked my knuckles and prepared to go down fighting.
I won that fight. Without my armor every being penetrated. Red armor everywhere, but my precision small laser and 2 SSRM firing stripped his CT and cored him.
That is why the Awesome is inferior. Less firepower, and less armor.

You must have seriously fought a truly terrible pilot ever to lose to you in that build. I have no problem rolling fresh Atlases in the 8R. You should have died, and the fact that you didn't is a tragedy. But it had nothing to do with the Awesome. That pilot would have lost to you in a Splattercat if he lost to you in that build.

You're absolutely right, the pilot was terrible, but shush! Maybe a dev will see my post and realize just how necessary a change to the Awesome is!

Well then he failed miserably. Assuming he kept it close enough to avoid your LRMs, you're talking his 78 damage versus your 22 and only a 32 max armor difference. One shot is all it takes to close that gap. Even if you take into account a large SRM spread, his large lasers alone practically equal your total close range damage.
If anything, your story indicates that mechs and their loadout aren't as important as people say since you were able to crush an opponent with such an overwhelming advantage.

This is a given. That said I still feel that the Awesome is underwhelming. In every other MW game I LOVED the Awesome. It is one of my favorite mechs, but in MWO I just can't enjoy myself in one. That might also be because PPCs are garbage right now...
