Srm6 Are The Most Strongest Weapons Now

I have only been playing for about two weeks and am just now finding out right now that SRM boats are a cheese build? What else do people expect you to build?
I recently bought a C4 cat because I liked my K2 and wanted to try a long range missile boat. After hating it I turned him into a brawler with srms and pulse lasers. I liked it a lot more then long range thats for sure.
But what else can you do? Put on some close range missiles and long range missile? Those builds just never seem to work so well for me. This leaves you with using srm 2,4 or streaks. Not a lot of options and why would you use srm2 or 4 if you have the weight for 6's and streaks are way too risky.
Sure this build is powerful but I notice a lot of people use gauss, ppc and ac/20 and ultra ac/5 which means you must wait for your team to engage so you can go in and pick people apart or find a flanking enemy.

What exactly takes skill? I mean unless you are really known then everyone just assume you are a no skill cheese building pug playing non talking noob..... I mean I guess I could build myself a badass atlas with nothing but two machine guns and a flamer. If I got a kill with that would I then be called skilled?
I mean numbers on the board hardly mean anything anyways. I was in a game yesterday were a guy sat afk in our base the whole round, Then a heavily damaged raven and cent came up and were looking at him for a few seconds. They opened fire, he opened fire and killed both of them before the rest of the team destroyed him and he made top of our side with the most xp because he got 2 kills.....

SRM A1s were hugely popular back when SRMS delivered a tight stream of missiles all to the same panel...That was 90 points mostly to one location.
When the spread value on them was increased they lost some of there appeal. During both of these times, Streak Cats were always popular to counter trollmandos and the Jenners.
With the advent of Tag and Artemis, and the preponderance of slow moving Assault mechs in game combined with the absolute worthlessness of Streaks on an A1, the old SRM based Cat made a resurgence and is viable because your primary targets are A- Big and B- Slow.

people like you are my favorite enemies in a catapult. taking my ears off is slower than coring me via CT when you slowly take my ears you give me more time to explode people

Yes, SRM6s are a bit OP, but no more than anything else. Boat them, and they're ridiculous.

Loving hunting these little buggers with this weapon (if you know how to handle it). They were so impressed they wanted me in their clan. lol
