The next four to six months will very telling for PGI and MWO.
If it's another six months of the same level and rate of progression as the last six months than this title may very well be in serious trouble.
They're in serious trouble, no "if". Major feature rollouts like community warfare take a really long time even for a fast development company, and PGI is not fast.
Look at their track record so far. Simple bug fixes and balance changes take months. Smaller content updates (night map versions, new mechs, etc...) also have taken months. Things seem to be speeding up, but not by a lot. Communication has also been improving somewhat, but that doesn't really affect the speed of release.
Long term, unless they change their pattern, Community warfare is probably half a year out (or more) and most of the other major features don't look to be doing better than that. The only way PGI is going to save this thing is by somehow keeping the community from getting completely bored in the meantime, and that's no small feat.
Also, speculating on what we've seen during the last couple of months, they appear to have entered a cash grab phase and there's only a couple of reasons to do that. My guess is that the publisher sees the writing on the wall and has pushed PGI to start bringing in revenue now to try and capitalize on what they've got before anyone smells blood in the water.
These are just my opinions though, I could definitely be wrong.
