How is an open beta NOT a release for a free-to-play title? As far as I can tell it's only to avoid being reviewed.

The game was already getting reviewed even before Open Beta, there's nothing the PGI could really do to ever stop reviews from pouring in. It's Open Beta, because PGI needed a much larger group of people to play the game and find all the bugs they could, it's not release because some of the fundamental aspects of this game haven't been added yet. Like CW, which is why we're all still stuck as 'Lone Wolf'.

Yea, you didn't answer the question though, for obvious reasons.

Thanks. Your post is the most along the lines of what I was hoping for when I posted.

The game is fun but it gets boring fast. I realy hope they finish some kind of metagame in the next 3/4 months or people will start to go.

Because you're a moron, and if you don't understand the development process of software after I just posted the Wiki page, then you either can't read, have poor comprehension, or are trolling. I'll go with trolling.

In CASE your not, the BETA is NOT a release. I feel no need to explain what it is, because the WIKI JUST DID THAT.

F-ing troll.

It was basically World of Tanks in closed beta. It doesn't seem to have moved much from that position. If what Lanessar said is true and you can't ask the devs about Community Warfare anymore that is not a good sign.

I played solo anyway but having the option of doing something other than deathmatch over and over or at least deathmatch with a larger aim would be nice.

We really need to keep beta or not beta discussions out of this thread. Velba, I understand your standpoint, but people have different opinions. And if you want to rant about that, post it in another "This is beta" threads.

It's not a matter of opinion...... It's facts. It's language comprehension. IT'S SET IN STONE. GET THIS TROLL OUTTA HERE

The next four to six months will very telling for PGI and MWO.

If it's another six months of the same level and rate of progression as the last six months than this title may very well be in serious trouble.

They're in serious trouble, no "if". Major feature rollouts like community warfare take a really long time even for a fast development company, and PGI is not fast.

Look at their track record so far. Simple bug fixes and balance changes take months. Smaller content updates (night map versions, new mechs, etc...) also have taken months. Things seem to be speeding up, but not by a lot. Communication has also been improving somewhat, but that doesn't really affect the speed of release.

Long term, unless they change their pattern, Community warfare is probably half a year out (or more) and most of the other major features don't look to be doing better than that. The only way PGI is going to save this thing is by somehow keeping the community from getting completely bored in the meantime, and that's no small feat.

Also, speculating on what we've seen during the last couple of months, they appear to have entered a cash grab phase and there's only a couple of reasons to do that. My guess is that the publisher sees the writing on the wall and has pushed PGI to start bringing in revenue now to try and capitalize on what they've got before anyone smells blood in the water.

These are just my opinions though, I could definitely be wrong.

The beta tag is just a shield at this point. The game is released. They can put that fancy sticker at top left all you want, but they're already taking money for the game and focusing heavily on releasing new MC-only content. That makes it a released game. They're basically saying, "Ya, it isn't done yet, but we're already selling it and making new things just to be sold in it."

That's pretty much how I felt about it back when they were calling it a kickstarter "investment" and not a pre-order.

Its true check out garths first post in this thread which is the latest "ask the devs 29" thread

http://mwomercs.com/...sk-the-devs-29/

He says:

"Same as usual, only one request: No Community Warfare questions please. I feel awful that I cannot answer them now and I hate passing them all by. Cheers everyone!"

I posted a bunch of threads asking questions(because they kept deleting/locking them) asking what the deal was with CW is it still on track and what are any details they can give us about it. No response to any other than lock/delete.

No? I've been saying it myself, not being told by you. You know, being completely stupid and/or clueless in every single thread you plague is one thing, but now you're either delusional or just making crap up. I think I've finally had enough. Time to do the unthinkable. The thing I've only ever done to 1 other guy so far...

I (and my friends) still enjoy the game, despite the glaring problems and rough edges. Pugs, 4's, and 8's.

Solo pugging is FAR more relaxing than 4 or especially 8 mans to me. I dunno why there's so much whining about it, tbh.Well, unless you're an ocd stat ho. Sure it's a mixed bag at times but you literally cannot lose money (CB) and frequently a mediocre to decent pilot can be THE MAN. :) Just accept the occaisional discos, afkers and n00b blue on blue and move on.

2-4 mans is fun because you are dropping with friends on coms, but It's annoying as hell for someone to have to sit out or pug until a spot opens, though.

8's are good assuming you are at least a little competitive, have a desire to improve your skills, have decent fcs and have a plan and the flexibility to change it. Also a very mixed bag that tends toward ECM and either very fat or very light or both.

All in all it seems like it's sorta coming along, just....very slowly.

It's an ok game to blow maybe half an hour to an hour on, not much depth after that. It has very little to offer other than your basic deathmatch experience. If that's what you are looking for then it will serve you well. I've harshly criticized for quite awhile, I've just come to accept that it is what it is. It's a mediocre World of Tanks clone with a Mechwarrior skin. I'm not saying that's good or bad, It's just very far from what it was marketed and talked up to be.

If you factor in the bugs and issue's and idiosyncrasies, it's got a long road ahead of it just to be a good World of Tanks clone.

Velba, you need to take your buttons on what someone believes out of the picture. You've not answered one of his questions. And whether the beta tag or "veiled release" is a person's idea of things (correctly or incorrectly), you're not changing anyone's idea of what they believe the game is at with your poorly thought out rants, or regardless of how many sources you quote.

A troll is defined from wikiderp as:

In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as a forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.

And you are fitting this definition. The main context is "where is the game at after open beta", and you have added nothing to the primary topic of discussion. Your posts are inflammatory, have nothing to do with his original question, take one line out of context, and are overly emotional to a valid and simple question.
