Cheesiest son of a gun brawler ever rolled out of the assembly line. Davion forbid if you meet one in the tunnel.
Stack SRMs, earn C-Bills by killing all other assault mechs.

Well what are you looking for? Out of those 3 the Atlas has the most armor plus one ECM variant, the Cataphract has the most mobility and a hero variant available, while the Stalker can carry silly amounts of weaponry.
All 3 can be killed by a light mech. There is no "best" in this game, there are just options that might fit your play style better.

If you get killed by a light in a cataphract you are either fighting 2+ or you need to practice leading.

I guess If i went for assault atm, i would go for D-DC because it has all 3 weapon type hardpoints, pretty well distributed, just the way I'm used from my CTF-2x and on top of it all, it has ECM... Really nice mech imo.

You can pretty much do this on any of these. But the Stalker+Atlas is painfully slow. If you want to move faster than grass grows, you might want to take the Cataphract instead. Other than that, you have their loadouts to take into account. Cataphract is mostly E+B. Stalker is entirely E+M. Atlas has a mixture on all variants.

Pretty much. If you haven't played the assault class yet, you might want to start with the Atlas. The lack of maneuverabilty on the Stalker really is a huge liability in a brawl if you aren't used to it.

I kill Frankenmechs all the time. I get killed by them all the time too.
They have no special powers, just like I don't. I just comes down to who gets the better shots.
You can't lead something that stays out of your firing arc, and I get killed when the other guy has support.

Heat management is decent with it and it can put out a very decent alpha strike and do it a few times before I need to even start thinking of managing my heat.

1) It has ECM, and I'm sick of PUG dropping with 7 other people, none of whom brought ECM, or who did, but (lookin' at you Ravens) think that their job is to run off ahead, taking their ECM bubble with them. They get a really good view of the enemy while they fling rack after rack of LRMs at us.
2) Max armor. People say "speed is armor", but really, "armor is armor". Most times, I don't think that the small speed differential between the Cataphract and the Atlas makes as much difference as the extra plate.
3) Arms. The Stalker's big vulnerability, and not just against lights, is the fact that it doesn't have the ability to use the arm arcs. I can't count the number of times I've popped over a hill to find that my torso weapons can't go down (or up) enough to hit.
4) Really balanced hardpoints. An Atlas has a nice diversity of hardpoints that let you tailor your mech to the fighting style you want. Want to recreate the Marauder II, can do. Need a nice loadout of lrms, two 20s can make it.
The Cataphract's big advantage is the speed (on one mark), nice ballistics hardpoints, and one jump capable chassis. I like the Stalker's ability to carry multiple (and multiple of multiple) of missile tubes, but the lack of arms means that if you lose your wingman, you're pretty boned,

Heat managment has nothing to do with the mech. Heat managment comes from how many heatsinks you can fit into your build, how hot your weapons run, and more importantly how you use them. No mech has heat management that is any different than any other mech.
