Hi all, long time listener, first time caller!

I'm working though the elite grind on chasis. I've finished medium and and nearing finish on heavy, so I was considering starting on a light chasis next.

Which chasis do you find is the most useful in a group role? I've seen people posting how their Raven can put out such and such damage per match, but often with a screen shot of a defeat. (who knows, could have ended up being a cap race at the end)

I'm interested in seeing which chasis can best help the team to win. I was playing with a Raven 3L build (I know, why go with the rare chasis), but wanted opinions from others as to what seems to be most useful in a group setting.

You already have the answer, the 3L, until or unless ECM is changed that is the best light you can bring for your team.

Ravens are not easy to elite due to the 2X and 4X variants not being damage-disher..

Personally I'll go for Jenners which are very good at dealing damage. The problem is that with the current ECM they are food to ECM Raven and Commando, but if you don't meet them any of the Jenners can take out Heavy and Assault mechs easily (especially from the back).

Good food for thought. Do you find the Jenner to be more help to a group with added firepower, or the Raven with the ECM helping with scouting? I dread trying to grind up the other two raven chasis, but if the scout boost helps the group the best I may go for it.

Scouting the front lines only to have to eat a dozen missile barrages fired in return doesn't sound like that much fun.

raven 3L.

everything else is food.

orrrrrrr you could take a cicada, thus increasing the chances the other team will have this weeks flavour of horrific centurion, and decreasing the chance they have a 3L/2D

Raven 3L is currently the undisputed dominant light mech in the game. There is very little reason to pilot anything other light. Even the jumpjet capable Jenners pale in comparison to the power of being able to mount ECM and a mix of energy/missile weapons.

If you really want to metagame your scouting, you could get a CDA-3M. Keep the ECM and speed, give the other team a medium (hopefully a Cent or Hunch) instead of a rival 3L.

the 2x and 4x are like pulling teeth with a rusty plier. If you want fun from a light, take a Jenner or mando.

No missiles mean when a Commando/Raven does show up, you are a walking target.

You need the 2x and 4x to level the 3L.

For 2x and 4x try max engine / srm6 + artemis / supported by other weapons

Play it as a skirmisher and open up RTs...

Also i love jump shotting SRM6s and lasers in heavies and assaults

The consensus is currently hovering at the Raven 3L, which yeah...ECM is awesome, and a Raven moves at the right speed to stick with the main group. However, the ECM Raven is quickly becoming the primary target for all enemy players. I posit that the best current light is the Commando- any variant. All variants pack a good mix of speed, firepower, and armor for a light chassis, and with any luck, the introduction of the 1C variant will mean Commandos will have access to all weapon types- energy, ballistic, and missile. The Commando can reach very high speeds when modified suitably, and with it's multiple hardpoints for any weapon type, you can rock a laser-blitzing COM-1B or a mini-missile boat COM-2D or anything you can imagine.

3L is current flavour of the month, due to ECM being in its current state. In addition, if you remove NARC from your right arm, you have an extra missile point to play with. Lastly, the hit box of Raven is a bit off due to netcode, so shots hitting you while you are moving are somewhat mitigated. You will often see Raven 3L to be the last mech standing on a team. I would say it's currently the most survivable mech you can find.

Please, for the love of bacon, dont put an LRM 10 in your NARC tube. Innuendo's aside, there's nothing funnier than seeing a raven at 130 kph ******* one missile at a time out of its tube.

Without a single spec of doubt the Raven 3L is the superior light mech choice. That is right now as the game plays at this moment.

My Raven loadout was built as a recon/spotter platform with maximized E-war potential.I was not expecting ECM to be the be all end all of info warfare we got when I built her but hey,why not use what is optimal someone else most certainly will.

ARMOR: is ferro fibrous (stock with the 3L) all armor values are max except for -2 from each arm -1 from each leg.front/rear values set to pilot preferance ( I use heavyer than average rear for surviving multiple streak hits from persuers)

STRUCTURE: Endo steel.

ENGINE: 280XL

HEATSINKS: 10 double

PAYLOAD:

ECM: right torso
BAP: left torso
TAG: torso mounted
2 medium lasers: arm mounted
2 SSRM2: in the obvious 2 missile hardpoints
2 tons streak ammo Center torso
AMS
1 ton ams ammo in the head

MODULES: 360 target retention,sensor range,cap accelerator.target info.

My varient differs from most of the lone wolf terror birds running about because it is optimized for group support and recon and not optimizing my KDR.I take the TAG instead of a third laser and mount the BAP and AMS to improve spotting and recon roles while lending AMS support to friendlies at the cost of the 295XL engine and more heatsinks.

Even when/if ECM gets tuned down and streaks get reworked to not be the mindless spam rockets they currently are the Raven 3L is an excellent choice as a recon platform so it will likely remain a top contender.

My intention is assuming ECM,BAP and TAG all remain useful after adjustments and streaks get taken down a few notches to use the Raven 3L as my primary recon platform while using my Jenner 3D as my raider skirmisher platform.
If SSRMs become over nerfed then replacing them with 2 SRM4s with one ton of ammo is a possible solution.
