This is a VIDEO GAME... NOT a dice game.

Quit whining about how game balancing is effecting your precious memories of your board game. There are more things to consider than (ie) OMG they can't give legs 3 open slots because they didn't have it in the TT game....

In my opinion:
Game development and balance overrides all things TT, MW & BattleTech canon aside from storyline.

Hold on, you didn't roll to see the effectiveness of your argument.

Yeah, I hate it when people start talking about historical accuracy for ww2 aircraft for ww2 flight simulators. I mean, gameplay should trump accuracy, so damn the g-locking and enable the lazors right?

Face it TT mechanics are the foundation of any BT game.

Yes he did...the results will be posted below...as started by Desertfox and Kraven above. If early results are any indication, it wasn't a great roll.

So we shouldn't have a targeting reticle, our weapons should have chances to veer off and miss wildly, heat levels should effect accuracy, it should be harder to hit a moving mech (netcode aside) and every shot will happen once every 10 seconds? Sounds like an awesome first person shooter sim.

Wait, they didn't have Regenerating Health, or defibrillators that cured multiple gunshot wounds in WWII???

Man, that must have been SERIOUS right there...

You are surrounded by ogres, the pungent smell of mildew emanates from the wet dungeon walls.

Oh, come off it.

TT mechanics have to be adjusted to fit the real time gameplay.

That doesn't mean you have to abandon them entirely or make them "that which shall not be mentioned."

PGI has done a good job on trying to stay true to TT while also making a fun real time, action packed game. Perfect? No, but they can't please all of us since no two of us really agree 100% on what should stick to TT and what should deviate.

Give. It. A. Rest.

Blowing my side of the argument out of proportion and screaming louder than me, automatically makes your opinion correct, and me incorrect.

However, while based on a board game doesn't mean we have die rolls to hit to we? We aim with our mouse and if we are on target, we hit. If we suck... we miss. Where is the die roll in that? and don't tell me in my freeborn linage.

I play TT. But i have made some changes my self to the rules. So i will not complain about changes made to transform the TT version to a computer game. But i can understand those who are not satisfied. Complaining is a tool for many people. So i let them use it. But in the other hand, make a computer game IS hard. Even with a big team.

So i think the ones whinning have legitimate reasons to do it and the rest of us who live with the changes (or don't care about them) are stuck beethween the whinners and PGI. So we just have to play and anjoy the game.

You started with the bold, large sized text (which most forumites kind of frown upon, not sure why but I learned the hard way long ago that the more you try to make your post "stick out" the worse the responses were.)

You are stating "tabletop should not even be mentioned" and I am saying "well, this is kind of based on a tabletop RPG so..."

Also, I'm not a clanner. Make some more assumptions :)

Since the table top game is the originator of this franchise, keeping as close as possible to it is important.

If you're going to just ignore the fundamental rules from the table top game every time you don't like them, then there's not point in calling this Mechwarrior.

Maybe you need to quit whining about not being able to do whatever you want because the rules are already set.

I'm not whining. I'm just tired of people trying to reference Sarna for every little detail for in-game specs then getting mad that there has been deviation.

OF COURSE I accept that MWO's roots are from TT and BT canon. I'd expect nothing less than the games foundation to come from there. But for us, on computers, playing this RPG FPS, things get a little more complicated (just a tad) than dice and people arguing with which specs should be allowed because of a cardboard hex game from 25 years ago. I'll grand you some props because painting the dam models must have taken dozens of hours- but that has no bearing today. Put them on a collectibles shelf and have some fun in the modern era.

edit. typo
