The AS7-D-DC compared to the AS7-D.
Head
- +Command Console
- -2 Energy Hardpoints (Medium Lasers)
- -1 ton LRM Ammo
- +1 Missile Hardpoint?
Why does it get another missile hardpoint when nothing has changed besides the loss of 1 ton of ammo in that section? IIRC talk in the closed beta was because the Command Console did absolutely nothing, ipso facto extra missile hardpoint. Which is undeniably an upgrade from those 2 CT energy slots. Now does that mean when the Command Console actually does something it will lose that 3rd missile hardpoint, or is it here to stay indefinitely? My guess is, it isn't going anywhere regardless.
In contrast the AS7-K loses quite a lot of offensive firepower potential for the ability to mount a second AMS.
The AS7-K compared to the AS7-D.
Left Torso
- -1 Missile Hardpoint
- -1 Ballistic Hardpoint
- +1 AMS Hardpoint
Making AS7-K's firepower potential abysmal compared to the others. Compare that loss to the other dual AMS Mech the STK-5S, I'd say that one got the better deal.
To make the AS7-K a Mech worth owning I suggest increasing it's ballistic hardpoints to 2. Sure the Gauss takes up less slots, but it does weigh more than the AC/20. Which gives some justification for keeping the second ballistic slot.
OR
The only other option I can come up with would be the reverse of the AS7-D-DC upgrade. AS7-K loses a missile hardpoint, so have it gain two energy hardpoints (1 in each arm). Which basically follows the same logic that adds them in the AS7-RS as well. However that may be too close to the AS7-RS, even though it still has one more missile hardpoint.
Anyway, I'm just interested in what other people think of these inconsistencies.
