I was up on the hills on river city, taking a little lrm fire, when POP I died.
At first I though may i had taken more damage than I thought.
The Death was caused by myself however, and it couldn't have been heat since i was less than a quarter up the meter.
Also the paper doll showed I had Armour left on all locations, I had just lost my CT, i'm not keeping ammo there and my side torsos have case. No XL either.
I can only presume there is something wrong with the out of bounds system on that map, since I didn't get a warning, and I wasn't out of bounds on the mini map.
Odd, anyone else got this?

Out of bounds warning is sometimes broken, just like everything else. Don't rely on it.

Yes, I have certainly gotten erroneous out-of-bounds while navigating the high hills on River City.

I have also experienced this bug (where nowhere near out of bounds and not under attack or overheated).

The "border" for the map is not a straight line. With a fast enough mech and while running along the west side of the map, you can enter and leave 'bounds' about 9 different times while going in a straight line. Got to be careful while near those boundaries. It would be nice if these maps were simply bigger.

Fair enough, not just me then. Hopefully It will get sorted in the next couple of patches, was a bit of a suprise to suddenly go pop like that!

I've had this happen twice, once in a Commando on forest, once in a Hunch (or maybe Atlas) on Frozen. In both cases I was on a hill that was in bounds and in both cases my mech suddenly exploded after I had come to a stop on a steeply inclined piece of it (a big one in forest, on frozen I was balanced on one of those sharp pieces of ice near the cliff edge).
In the case of the Commando death there was definitely some jittering before I died - that game couldn't seem to decide exactly how my mech should be balanced and then it just gave up and exploded me (maybe a sanity check in the game designed to destroy mechs that are clipped halfway through terrain for more then a few seconds?)

Also, don't discount accurate sniper fire. A single gauss slug through the cockpit will end a match just as quickly and quietly.

I've had a similar situation with a hbk, but I survived the games first shot and ended up with a red core with no armor damage. Never been able to replicate it though.
