The 5 million did not go to pgi, but instead to igp.

How does that matter? I mean, what is the relationship between PGI and IGP? Has the founders
cash or part of it been moved to other projects?
Yes. Three projects (currently) in total. IGP is the publisher as far as I know.

Actually I think the job posting was made by someone in HR because it seems like they're looking for 2 senior positions in one. One being a Senior/Lead Network Engineer the other being a Senior/Lead Client/Server game programmer. They're totally different skill sets.
It also mentions Agile Development Techniques as a prerequisite which reminded me of a post from yesterday about MVP http://en.wikipedia...._viable_product

I would actually expect them to spend that cash on building a solid game. With working netcode and such.
I guess I am naive.
It would hurt a little to see that cash go to Duke Nukem strikes back or something like that.

Certainly true, but like many things here, it seems that this truth wasn't made very clear up front.

When the whole point is to save up for upgrades, getting your account banned will seriously suck.

Well, I for one did, and here's is a quote from the CEO of the parent company that owns IGP, Nick Foster:

Disclaimer: The comments I made here are not based on any known facts and are not represented as such. They are made from a combination of rumor, supposition, ignorance and the collective ramblings of the interweb. If PGI and IGP where to be more forthcoming with information concerning this and other matters concerning MWO, I would gladly revise my statement and put forward more accurate, informed statements.

here's a little something:
Companies have been able to deliver very stable netcode in MMO's where HUNDREDS of players fight in the same spot and each firing thousands of bullets EACH of which is individually tracked and calculated...and the player's aircraft/tanks/etc have been modelled to simulator standards (not arcade which is what MWO is) so armor thickness, bullet energy, angle, etc. all factor in , PER BULLET, PER HIT LOCATION. All as they fly or drive at very high speeds.
... as of 10 years ago.
And here's MWO which cant deliver a simple table based damage calculation ARCADE game where an embarrassingly small amount of players fight in... without having 'netcode' issues that run the game down to a halt.
not only that, they somehow also managed to give a stealth+invincibility from an entire weapons line module to the very mechs that have the biggest incidence of exploiting the netcode problems.
