What's the point???

Come on guys get your little four mans together and get an eight man team together.

Are you THAT afraid of fighting a coordinated TEAM???

We have been trying to fight 8 mans and it takes 3 or 4 failed attempts before we get a launch.

I can see many 4 man teams on Comstar TS, but very few 8's!

Come out and play, lose win whatever, at least you can practice your skills and develop in a better player.

And don't troll me with all that ECM ATLAS nonsense. I run my crew with whatever mech they are best in and we have a 10:1 win loss ratio.

So man up and play 8's. You cried for it now go do it! Test you skills in REAL match.

We have had a few "failed to find match" and a few other times hitting the same team 2 or 3 times in a row.

But no major hassles beyond that.

I am thinking Conquest is a bit less popular for 8-mans right now, as we don't all want to pilot Raven 3L's :)

My merc corp does this in conquest, and its a blast. We cap all the points and just leave one enemy mech alive and then run around like loons :o

Some like the fours because it gives a chance to meet other gamers outside your own friends and maybe recruit new team members. Only playing eights means you can only build your team by poaching from other teams.

Now if the game had voice, you would see much faster team building and more eights being played... and since we are wishing, I'd like a pony.

Its not that easy to get 8 people you know online at once, 4 is a lot more manageable.

Plus sometimes I want to pilot my centurions, which just don't hold up in 8 mans.

Because 8 man coordinated teams are just Ravens and DDC Atlases. Oh, I've seen a few hunchies, too. It's not really tactical to run nothing but ECM. 8-man is actually pretty boring because everyone you face is the same.

That is completley counter to my experience, I only have 2 people from my current group in my freinds list. I play with different people every day.

No problem finding 8man Assaults last night. I dont get why people think conquest is a better format. Just easier for lights to ninja cap.

Because sometimes you don't like having to stress out in 8 mans, sometimes you wanna cut loose and run something terrible in 4 mans.

... or you just want to play together with 2-3 friends while talking about ... stuff. I'm sure the additional four ppl in an 8-man woul not like that very much.

Astonishingly conceited presuming to tell me and the friends I've played hundreds of different games with over the last decade exactly how we're allowed to play MWO on the occasions we feel like playing. Single child much?

I don't always want to play an ECM mech and in pug drops you can still get away with it, but even that seems to be changing.

Basically my experience in 8v8 has been...4-5 DDCs + ECM scouts you generally win. You can shuffle in a medium or another assault for one or two of the DDCs and still do okay if you've got good pilots, but another DDC would still be better.

And LRMs aren't worth running now. Better just to bring SRM 6's

Sorry to say, but the 4-mans are usually just grinding the pugs. They're like the lvl 5 scorpions of MWO.

Were only running 2 ECM mechs at the minute and winning most of our games. There are a couple of groups running the 6-2 DDC/3L combo, once you know who they are you can adapt your game accordingly.

I run in 4s because there's only 2 other people I regularly play with, that I know IRL. We do it as a way to keep in touch since we live so far away.

...Huh? I don't have seven other friends who play MWO who can all get on at the same time. And while I'm definitely curious about trying out 8 man teams, that curiosity is tempered by the stories I've heard of it and comparing those stories to what I like to run, which is not whatever the most leet build is. I enjoy just playing with one or two friends in a team, it also gives us a chance to try to get the other players to fit into a plan by having one suggest the plan and the rest agree to it, even though we're a premade and we came up with the plan in Teamspeak.

And you know what else? Sometimes I don't even get on Teamspeak. I just run solo because I feel like I don't have the time to join a team, because I feel like if I join a team I have to play a lot of games with them. Or maybe I'm messing around with experimental loadouts and don't want to drag a team down. But yeah, sometimes, I just lone wolf it up in this metaphorical hizzouse.

I'm sorry you're not finding more 8-man teams to fight, but could you not insult other people's preferred playstyles while you're at it?

Nope, never claimed to. I'm a lowly PUG so I take what I can get. Would like to see more people playing 8 man though.
