Why do I want one?
They give me a giggly tingle in some special area on my person....I dunno....
Would appreciate those who are proud Awesome pilots to weigh-in.
Thanks!

I've been known to stomp around in a blue and purple 8q or 8r from time to time... that time being like all the time, at least when I'm not running my Jenner.

Jeah, I sorta see it as a challenge.
It's chest and back are quite broad.
I've read that the hit-boxes are wonky an' larger than the Atlas.
But all that just makes me want to get on even more, lol.

Consider: They're probably the least used Assault mech. And the lightest. Which means you'll most likely give the other team an Atlas or Stalker.
While you can play sniper with PPC's they're not the most effective large weapon. And your light armor, slow speed and HUGE center torso means you're less effective as a brawler.
Cataphracts and Catapults can use similar configs more effectively.

You're right.
I have considered droppin' with an Awesome would likely give the other team a Stalker or an Atlas.
I do know that they are the least played Assault, possibly the least played Mech.
But....
I still wanna just UNF one.

But I have seem some great Awesome pilots, running them as Brawlers.

I find my Awesome with 4 Srm6 gets much more constistent damage to enemy mechs because all of the missiles hardpoints are torso mounted with no hatch to delay the firing. The stalker however had 2 arm missile hardpoints in the arms that also hatch a hacth and if you get the 5 missiles stalker one missile point will only shoot one missile at a time, the result is the damage is much more spread out and the additional laser support just makes me overheat a lot more.
Also the 9M is the fastest assault mech by far and easily one of the strongest brawlers in the game (I need to get one but it is just too dang expensive PGI needs to let you buy the base chassis with no weapons or engine in place IMO cause I would get rid of the 320 XL engine first thing when i bought it anyway ).
I also thoroughly enjoy my 4 PPCs stalker and I feel it does a better job at that than the awesomes i have tried to do it on. The 4 PPCs in the arms of the stalker are higher up and allow less exposure needed to make shots. I think both are great mechs but I always seem to do best all around in my awesomes as compared to any other mech. My K/D is fairly good too and my most used mech by far is one of the 3 awesome variants I own.
PS. is there a way to track and see your total damage done on your account?
PPS. never use an XL engine in one, it turns you into a mech that is as easy to down as a hunchback because those side torsos can go down quick

I think the 9m is the only one worth getting with stalkers I can't think of many roles an awesome can fill that a stalker can't (excluding 9m)

Put the awesomes left arm between you and your opponents to stay in the battle a little longer.

Hmmm.
Very good.
I believe that if you just stick with one Mech an' play the hell out of it you'd get quite proficient with it.
Relatively.
I appreciate the details.

Awesome is a support mech but there are no support roles for it to fill.

AWS 8R
17 DHS
standard 290 engine
3 Med lasers
4 SRM6 (7 tons ammo)
2 case
1 AMS (2 tons ammo)
1 beagle probe
464/494 (took some armor out of legs and weaponless arm. 70 in front center torso)
Despite having less tonnage than other assaults, I had spare tonnage to waste on extra AMS ammo and a beagle probe... It alphas for 75 with heat efficiency of 1.21. It goes 65 with speed tweak. Use similarly to that Cat a1 SRM boat but with lasers for when you need to hit a precise spot.
AWS 9M
23 DHS
xl 385 engine
5 med laser
1 large laser (arm)
1 streak SRM2 (arm 1ton ammo in leg)
1 AMS (1ton ammo in leg)
1 Beagle probe
464/494 (armor taken from legs. 60 in center torso)
Again despite having less tonnage available than other assaults I still waste some on beagle. It goes about 85 with speed tweak and burst fires specific areas of a mech. With or without streak its very effective against lights if you can aim. Alpha is 39 with heat efficiency of 1.3.
I get very good scores with these mechs. Some of it has to do with skill but they are solid mechs and just as good as an atlas when piloted/built well.

I'll try your 8R build whenever possible.
Thanks for the input.

I can easily flank atlas's in my 9m going 85KPH. You can also chase down wounded heavies/mediums.
As long as you torso twist a ton to spread out the damage and don't rush in you shouldn't get focused.

Jeah.
That's pretty much what I'm thinking.
Play smart, let others initiate, pick my targets wisely.
Which is hardly any different from how I normally play.
I would need to be less conspicious, though.
Compared to the Atlas or Stalker, anyways.
