I would also like to see flares ingame that would totally mess up your NV. That would be fun! Really mess up the NV always on players. And also would like to hear the legendary "Light Amplification, engaged".

I'd like Rivercity more if my mech had a spotlight to be honest. I say this because thermals are misleading (Not knowing what direction enemy is facing/blend with friendlies) and Night vision is just odd and disorienting (this may be just me though).

the city is a warzone, good chance power is knocked out, further if a person is hiding in that place, light is the last thing you want to make at night in a warzone.

But with the sort of firepower goin off you would think there would be a lot of fire and smoke.

I think there should be sources of light in mechs. Spotlights, flares, it would be nice if you weren't forced to rely on two visual modes.

It *is* annoying enough that, when we can finally select the maps we want to play in, I'll never take it again.

I don't like leaving my teammates one short, but I do feel like slapping a designer every time I see I'm going into that stupid map...

Though I guess perhaps it wouldn't be that bad if Night Vision wasn't so awful...

I like the rest of the maps, but I don't really like River City Night. River City during the day is ok, but I don't really like using thermal or nightvision, mostly because it hurts my eyes.

River City Night is one of my favourite maps in this game, it really brings a level a difficulty that spices the game up considerably. Taking advantage of weaker players on this map is by-far the best strategy. There is no better feeling than a mech that turns and runs from you!

I personally love the fact that atmospheric conditions are so important in this game. Both the night city map and the frozen city in a big *** snowstorm are awsome to me. I have to actually use my sensors and struggle to see the enemy it adds to the immersion so much <3

Well perhpas its just me but that is what I think

I agree with you. Also, for those complaining that they cannot see, just remember that your enemy is similarly hindered. It isn't a penalty to you, it is adding variety.

I don't see why anyones thinking this map is good. Thermal totally negates the darkness so you can't hide in the dark so all it does is force people to look at really crappy Atari type game. In fact, this is why i really hate how ECM works as most people just run around in thermal. Why go through all the trouble of making cool looking models to just hide them with thermal. The intro of darkness maps and ECM are killing this games best feature, its look. Red Blobs in the Blue online.

I would like to see a map that has dark spots that you could hide in and most of the map is light so people aren't all runnin thermal. But ECM kinds killed that idea already.

river city night is my home. i sneak up behind more mechs there than probably the rest of the maps combined. i have come up behind entire enemy teams before in my CATAPULT. it is beautiful watching "snipers" panic because all of a sudden their rear armor and possibly a side torso just went away for no apparent reason. then they turn around to see a heavy mech within 100m. some even have a hard time believing that something like that could be there and just don't turn around, instead they spend their remaining moments looking for a nonexistent sniper.

i like the feal of the nightvision in this game. i wouldn't want it all the time, but it does add flavor to the game.

If any map should be got rid off, then they should be:
Forest Colony - overall worse performance and annoying screen going pitch black bug
Caustic Volley - way too often lag spikes

But River City Night is fine. The only what needs to be improved is night vision and thermal vision.

This is so annoying that I quit the game each time this map load. Can't see anything.
Night vision work well but this is very boring.

Get rid of this in the game.

Whats next??? Do we get rid of Caustic cause mechs have a greater chance of overheating?

Do you want some cheese to go with your whine? People like you are the exact reason games that start out with good intentions wind up catering to all the whiners and loose a good portion of their base. The night map should stay in fact, IMO every map should have a day and night version. In addition, possible atmospheric conditions like snow, rain etc..

Can we at least make it a choice on which map we do not want to play?
A friend of mine has had brain surgery (due to a nasty cancer) which affects his vision. He can play the normal maps, but the city night is horrible for him. He cannot see much (next to nothing) using heat vision and night vision is a bit less bad. Of course, when I play with him, nearly every third map we play is this damn night map.

I do agree that the level of "greenness" is a little overpowering and could be toned down slightly but it adds a MUCH NEEDED mechanic to the game.

pssshhhht, you might start something you would regret ;)

on the other hand... i think the best PGI could do would be to build only maps without anything...just a plain white room with a skybox around it, no obsticles, 200mX200m clear visuals and NO temperature at all...oh and of course 1vs.1 only, because teams are overpowered (always the other team, we all know that)
while we are on it: remove hardpoint limits, it was such a bad idea to make boating much harder than in previous games... remove ammo and weight limits, as well as heat from weapons...

we generally should have only ONE mech chassis, so everyone has equal conditions, and only infinite-ammo-gaussrifles-with-streak-bullets, nothing else...

i think this would be a good basis to make everyone happy, wouldn´t it? ^^

I like the river city night map for the change of pace. It is more challenging and you have to watch for the friendly target marker but otherwise it provides a new experience.

Weapons fire is blinding on this map - particularly lrms and I would not recommend it for anyone prone to seizures.

However, "H" for heat mode is very effective (I prefer it to night vision), and "N" for night vision is also an option if you find it better. Both let you see targets on that map - heat vision at a much greater range.

Forest Colony and the Snow version are perfect maps, there is nothing that needs to be changed with the mechanics there.

Exactly, lets all baby the less skilled players until the entire game is nerfed and no one wants to play any more.

These maps are challenging, that is the point. He might want to disconnect if he finds a particular map too difficult for him.

Night vision is perfect so far, if you have ever used high quality night vision you would understand why/how it looks like it does.

It was simply implied when whining about a particular difficulty that can only be overcome by player skill to be a lacking of said skill.

River City Night is visually repulsive. I'm normally not one to harbor ill will against the devs, but who dafuq thought that was permissible aesthetic design?!
