I went with "meh" I haven't even started my Founder's Premium time; I have been reserving that for the day that I can't put this game down, which has yet to come. The only noticeable difference from yesterday is that I see Spiders, mini map looks cleaner, and anyone else notice you can use your Night Vision in day time now without getting a blinding white screen? Was that even intentional?

They were on vacation over the winter break. I didn't expect much from this patch, and I got what I expected. Netcode has gotten a little better and they're working on some good stuff that didn't drop this patch.

What we got was a useless, superfluous light mech, some patcher UI tweaks, some modules, a new camo, and some bug fixes. None of this has much of any impact on me as a MWO player.

Aside from anything else, he's right about a couple of things.

PGI has made a major mistake by not trying hard enough to hire that net coder. This is a time sensitive project, and having that position open for more than a month or two was a really bad move.

And before you argue that they couldn't find anyone to fill it, I'll tell you that's not a valid answer. In a situation like this, there is always a way to find someone. You pay more, or offer better incentives, or do whatever the heck it takes. When your project is really and truly suffering for lack of a resource, you get that resource. End of story.

Failure to do so almost always means project death, sooner or later.

Well, What if most programmers are not interested in trying to fix / create new network code for cryengine ? (ie they all think its going to be hell)
What if said programmers that did want to put up with hell demanded a 2million salary for it? (or just a very high one)

What if said programmer was also the only one that even applied ?

There is only so far PGI can go.

Say you ran a company, and you needed a netcoder just as bad as PGI. You have 1million left in the bank for any new salaries you may need to pay this year. Your investors atm don't want to put in anymore money, and the only guy who wants to work for you is demanding more than you can afford.

Basically, if you hire him, he will fix the game, but the company goes bust and hence has to close down the game anyway. (it doesn't have to be 1 person, it could be a group of 10 coders etc the same thing applies)

I can understand slow patch's and small bits of content added at a time. But introducing a new mech that they KNOW has warping/lagshield issues without actually addressing that issue is a bit bs to me. It isn't like this is the first mech we see that experiences.

I'm not saying I expected a fix for it this patch but I didn't think they would add something to the game that adds the the issue.

And nothing on the matchmaker or phase 3 was also disappointing. Or fixing the FPS bug or yellow screen (that has been a round for a long while now).

Maybe big is just the size (425mb if that is big for a patch)?

They fixed the DC exploit and people have been talking about better heat efficiency...

So for the DC exploit alone I put "somewhat".

However there is still the yellow screen (press shift + F11 but leaves you with no ui), no ui screen and black screen. A couple days ago I got the fps bug.

Patch was a joke, PGI needs to pull their heads out of there ***** and actually put some effort into fixing the game, not adding to the issues by releasing another lagshield mech with broken ECM.

Due to MD5 hash mismatch, I have not got a chance to play. Until then, very disappointed as my premium time burns off without me.

With all of the actions pgi has taken I wonder do game studios have insurance? As in they get paid off big if the game fails?
If so I want to start a fraud case against them.

I find it funny that they keep releasing more stuff for money, and not fixing stuff so that people will play and spend more.

I will give PGI some slack but the patchnotes are vague and the additions are disappointing; a simple "we're running behind in netcoding due to the CryEngine not full supporting 3rd party modifications."

instead we get modules that do absolutely nothing in gameplay, no communitcation, new crap... a new incoming Hero-Commando (4 laser hardpoints?... maybe ECM? expect it dead in 5 min), and some other stuff they failed to mention (they nerfed Thermal but not Buffed Nightvision).

Paul Inouye, I am dissapoint. But this company has blundered time and time again, so I shouldn't be dissapointed, I should be...

"hey, what's that fancy word for that feeling when your child/friend/other ***** up so constantly that you're past dissapointment and expect the person to **** up again real soon... no agony, no anger, no judgement."

Hey, its Patchmas all over again.

Its nothing to get our backs up over, I mean when in the past has PGI had a "big" patch that lived up to the hype?

I'm finding the game LESS responsive that before. I've never had much problems with lag-shield lights, my ping is usually between 50 - 70. However, since this patch I've had two instances where I've gotten teamkills by shooting THROUGH my enemy and hitting a friendly on the other side.

The worst was an alpha strike on a stationary Atlas while I was stationary as well. What I saw was my lasers hitting his backside and doing damage. What the game registered was a TK on a friendly raven. Pretty much soured my whole night.

Fix ECM

Fix Netcode

Better to outright delay a patch then to add fuel to an angry fire

Performance wise it hasnt been too bad for me ( other than I didnt get back the 50% loss in FPS I had from the last patch... so nowhere to go but up anyways ), however... when I saw lag effects, they were BRUTAL. Im talking teleporting mechs... not mechs that stutter or skip in front of me, im talking a mech that was there.... then ended up there... 300 feet away. Oddly enough, it wasn't a light either, it was a HBK or CN the first time I saw it. I witnessed this a couple times tonight.

For the record, I live in the same city as the servers, so I have a 20ms ping all the time. It must have been a player with a REALLY bad ping and the game dealing with it horribly.

For one I am glad they are making headway on the net code issue. From what the patch says they will have netcode fixed sometime next month. Which is sweet.

I do wish they had mentioned what their intentions are with ECM. It is a pretty big issue and they aught to say again what they think about it. I also wished they had mentioned more about changes to the PPC and other weapons. I thought those changes were supposed to come in right after the holidays.
