Performance wise it hasnt been too bad for me ( other than I didnt get back the 50% loss in FPS I had from the last patch... so nowhere to go but up anyways ), however... when I saw lag effects, they were BRUTAL. Im talking teleporting mechs... not mechs that stutter or skip in front of me, im talking a mech that was there.... then ended up there... 300 feet away. Oddly enough, it wasn't a light either, it was a HBK or CN the first time I saw it. I witnessed this a couple times tonight.

For the record, I live in the same city as the servers, so I have a 20ms ping all the time. It must have been a player with a REALLY bad ping and the game dealing with it horribly.

Players have reported playing with 15 ms and it's not the MS but the hit detection. The lag is totally and squarely the fault of the bad code, and how the game client calculates player detection.

Get rid of the last two patches, and ECM from the patch before and I agree with you. The last two patches have technically made the game much worse for me... previous one tanked my frame rate, and this one added audio issues ( cracks pops and random muting... theres a thread about it in the feedback area ). Before all of that, and especially before ECM, I was pretty optimistic that things were on the right track, even if new maps weren't coming along.

wow, I can't believe how selfish the internet has become these days. Nothing but page after page of crying and whining about how things aren't perfect. you people absolutely disgust me. it must be nice to be gods of perfection where your work days go by flawlessly and everything you do is perfect the first time you do it, in under thirty seconds flat. I guess you have net-coding perfected.

i keep having to use this as an example. Remember when EVE first came out?? Holy crispy crud, were there flames abounding on their forums and now it's a great example of a sandbox game. THAT TOOK TIME to make it where it is today. Jesus, MWO hasn't even been out for a year yet and you all want it final and sixty maps with golden bunnies and god damned unicorn sprinkle dust everywhere. and made so that everytime you personally log in, your an unstoppable mech killing machine and everyone else is your prey.

This is why I don't read forums.

EVE, was a trainwreck until Red Moon Rising. The difference between CCP & PGI is that

1. CCP had a working sandbox game that people played for and everything as promised was delivered in a working form in EVE 1.0

2. CCP realized that when a bug happened, they reimbursed players who put up with the ****

3. Never a day went by when the original CCP team of 40 guys were not only active in game, but on the forums. With the exception of a PC Gamer review of their final product, they were total grassroots for their first 3 years of LIVE. They lived their game, and they to quote Warren Buffet ate their own cooking: Dev's not only were involved in the game Q&A but tracked bugs, and played/fully immersed themselves in the player base. They knew, and still know every exploit, facet and glitch in their game. They prided themselves on being so in the game, it nearly got them sued. But damn, they really did care about exactly how their brand and product was perceived. As such, their customers eventually became their front line marketing force and are now key executives at the company's N.A offices.

4. Every feature in the game original design document was working, with the exception of player owned infrastructure, that was implemented within 1 year. A Sandbox game promised was delivered, no matter how laggy and bad it's 1.0 was.

Now compare that to the very large list and bill of goods PGI promised us.

In 6 months (half a year) of "open".... or according to the dev timeline, 3.5 years of R&D we have

4 maps
6 mechs (effectively, alt's dont count).
1 and 1.5 game modes. One game mode was an admitted "test mode" from closed beta that morphed into a "feature" somewhere inbetween August and October.
A mmo, without a sandbox, or any MMO 'features'

See the difference bro ?

Seriously, with ECM currently overpowered, the Netcode currently poor at prediction and tracking of clients locations, every other mech is an ECM Raven and broken Heat Management, PGI decides the the priorities should include a new ECM mech in the patch, Really ?

How about fixing the game breakers: ECM, NetCode, Heat Dissipation ??

personally i was expecting 2 things :

- a fix for 4fps bug that is probably the most annying bug
- a fix for shield lag. if thos elights with ecm wouldn't shiled lag at least we can have a chance of hitting them.

ANd i think that regardless of PGI schedule and what they planned to implement in a patch..when you see that you have bigger problems killing your game and your player community - you adress those problems asap, and if you are not capable to adress those problems in the same time with your planned changes...you let those damn changes for the next time and do what's more important. I could live without spider and commano hero but gameplay issues are a BIG problem.

Just wanted to make sure I understood you correctly. You're comparing a released game to a game in beta? I mean there's still one more grand wipe coming eventually, right? Then point 1 is contradicted by point 4 (everything that was promised was there at release, except this one thing). I also don't think this has been advertised as a sandbox MMO. At best it's been advertised as join your faction and help it out or join a merc group and fight for whomever you want. So, maybe a comparison to Planetside 2 + Mercenary option would be more apt (or some of the other MMOFPS's coming out).

As far as my expectations on the patch go. I didn't expect much because I expect no dev work to get done between December 16th and January 15th at basically any software company that treats their employee's with much respect. Usually what hinders you there is that you may have some of the people in, but not all of the right people to keep forward momentum properly maintained. Maybe the moderator for a code review is on vacation, and next week he's in, but the author isn't there. This is what slows up development. If they forced everyone to only take a few days off then they could be more productive, but probably keep less talent over the long run.

I also guess, that being immersed in the development process myself at the company I work for, I understand all of the hiccups that go into deviating from the plan. Heck, seeing as how I'm a software tester, I'm usually the one throwing the train off its tracks. So, when a company announces delays I'm usually not surprised, especially if they were touting the feature as being quick to implement. Those are the projects I ALWAYS see blow up.

So, for me, it's still a fun game where I get to tromp around in a big mech and blow stuff up, and I'm not getting to beholden to anything because of the fact that there's still one wipe on the roadmap. Even if they don't do that wipe, I'm still not concerned, because I'm still having fun.

Good Luck Dev's.

The Patch is fine, sure we all want DX11 and the Netcode fix, like yesterday, but they're coming out really soon.

This Survey on the other hand, I could do with out.

I am a bit disappointed with this patch.

I somewhat got the impression that this would be a big patch, but it consequently ignores the problems this game has... again.

The only interesting thing is the new mech, but then again, introducing a new LIGHT mech with all the netcode problems doesn't seem to be a wise course of action...

Two problems with your post.

1. There is no more wipes, this has been stated by the devs over and over again, the game might as well be live and with as much effort as the devs are putting into the cash store the devs themselves are treating this as a live game.

2. The devs said this patch would be a big one, thats why people expected it.

then again, introducing the other light (Flea) would be worse because that would be introducing MASC which makes the speed issue 2x as bad lol

That's true. But forums don't generally get toxic on their own.
I doubt that Stompy Robots fans are a particularly difficult breed of people to please.

You know, even if they came out and said "sorry, matchmaker, ELO and ECM fixes werent ready in time but will drop shortly", that would go a long way toward placating the population.

But truth is, other than that it was "big", netcode fixes were schedule for mid January ( 15th is pretty damned mid ) and matchmaking was "really soon", we were completely left guessing what was upcoming in this patch. Better communication would have again settled the community down.

In this regard PGI are *REALLY* dropping the ball. There communication is terrible, and certainly getting worse.

What do you mean "pretty damned mid"? It IS the middle!

For the OT: I am very disappointed. First they take 2 weeks to a month off and then they toss in another BS light mech that will exploit lag shield AND add an ECM unit to it, and no balance passes either...

With all of the actions pgi has taken I wonder do game studios have insurance? As in they get paid off big if the game fails?
If so I want to start a fraud case against them.

If you get one going, drop me an IM, I will get in on a class action suit.

I have already written to IGP and PGI asking for a refund or a transfer to MW:T, I severly regret giving these fools a single penny.

Nope, everything you get from the last wipe onward is what you get and keep, he game is pretty much in its soft launch form and they are actively advertising it with banners around the internet and pushing out things you can buy with real money as fast as they can make them, to the determent of other parts of the game.

"Should we maybe work on some balance?"
"Nah lets code another hero mech that those ******** will spend real money on, I need some moolah for my next month long vacation!"

Heres what I see happening: PGI will pump out clan mechs soon but will make them available for MC first to rake in money because all you tools will STILL buy a fuking Timber Wolf even if its 20k MC then about 2 months after that MWO will go belly up while the devs laugh all the way to the bank about the dumbass fan boys who spent money for their TW for a dieing game. Dont get me wrong Iv been playing mech since I was 15 (thats 18 years now. meh) and I so badly want this game to do SOMETHING. ANYTHING. I want you to take my money!! But if you refuse to balance the game and refuse to listen to the player base then all of you at PGI are as stupid as a bag of flaming dog ****.

and as to the topic, as this have to be BIG patch, and in fact, it has only lag-spider mech, its total fail.
nearly as same fail as last time, as they had virus on this mainpage.

no mm3, no elo, no netcode fix. epic fail.

They had a go at nailing the pathetic K/D peeps that disconnect under fire when at 20-30% armour and showing no mobility/fire accuracy problems.... a distinct step forward.

Lets see..

We are missing features available in the closed beta (knockdowns).
We have been dealing with the same known, documented bugs for months now (yellow screen, 4fps, 1-2 people disconnecting at the start of each game)
"Improved" features are worse than what they replaced (Jump jets, mech lab, matchmaker...)
Many patches seem to introduce more bugs than they fix (various things all over really).
Even their patch notes allude to them knowing they are releasing with serious bugs (spider lag shield and rubber banding).

Aside from some FPS fixes (which feel like they are starting to go the other way again), what new, great features have the introduced, that added to good gameplay and balance?
