The Raven is a good light mech... I'm not bashing it. But now its to the point that those of us that want/try to play 8 man games, can't even enjoy a good 8 man game because we are now running into full 8 man ECM Raven teams. Add to the mix that those same ECM Ravens can mess with your mech who are/may be running missiles of any kind... yet they almost always are using Streaks themselves. Then the kicker is the lag shielding and 8 Ravens have no fear.

I know there are many threads about ECM, Streaks, Lag Shielding and the many other in games issues but when you effectively give all these things to a fast mech... not much can beat it.

Now we have yet a third light mech with ECM lol.

To be honest... Im starting to feel that ECM mech should be mech that have no missile hard points themselves. I dont have an issue that these light ECM mech can disrupt other missile mech and can use their ECm to stop people from using Streaks on them, but they should not then be able to freely use Streaks on you from the comfort of their bubble.

Ever since they patched in ECM this was the main question i asked myself: DAFUQ DID THEY THINK!?

They didn't think. They just added it because they didn't like being killed by streak cats.

My guess is there is very minimal testing of just about any change or addition, and if it turns out to be horribly unbalanced and outclass any other mech/weapon/equipment, it's just "working as intended". Couldn't possibly have been a mistake, or not tested enough, now could it?

you are absolutely right. While it stopped the Streak Cat Boating band wagon, it now just gave the Streak power to the very ECM mech designed to stop Streak or any other missile boating lol. And its really getting annoying. Even to the point that hardly anyone wants to play 8 mans now.

I get Tired of seeing them with Streaks on them...I think I am the only 3L pilot who doesn't use them.

Sadly it does make a difference

Hey, if you're tired of seeing them, then maybe you should push for the developers to make the other lights good, too? I mean, if there was something else to drive, that wouldn't cripple your team, people would be in that.

It works all other classes, you know.

It is not the ECM that makes them invulnerable. The ECM works as it should and according to TT rules. If you do not think it works according to TT rules then you are wrong and need to reread them. It spells out specifically how ECM functions and it performs the exact same in-game. The problem with the 3L is the hitboxes, lagshield to an extent, and too many hardpoints. Some of those hardpoints are supposed to be occupied by tag, bap, and narc. Someone pointed this out in another thread and it was a brilliant observation. Especially since the Raven is supposed to be a scout and electronic warfare specialist.

there are other light mechs that are good mechs. Other Ravens or even the Jenners. The Jenner is still the best ton for ton hard hitting light we have... just no one uses it hardly anymore because of ECM on other lights. If they would have went ahead and given the Jenner ECM like they were going to at first... we probably would have been having this same problem with them. The issue isnt the Raven with ECM. The Raven has always been one of those lights to mount it. The issue is that it can now do everything that people have issues with in this game lol. The biggest issue with ECM right now is that it allows the user to effectively and almost completely stop anyone from using any form of missile on it but still allows the user to fling those Streaks at anything the user wants.

Quit whining and pick up a cannon if they wanted you to play artillery master 2012 they would have made maps bigger and added actual spgs.

It is unfair that most ECM mechs can equip SSRM's. No one can use them against them, but they can use them no problem.

not whining. But when you are in ANY mech with or without Cannons... id like to see you live more than a few seconds when you have 4 to 8 ECM Ravens running circles around you. You then tell me how well your cannons do when you cant hit them.

I would find it amusing if they made ECM block the carrier's own lock-ons and any friendly lock-ons... and then left it on the same mechs that it is on now. Have fun learning to aim dumbfire missiles, people-who-use-streaks-as-a-crutch ;)

Lasers are also plentiful and if you have lights running around you by the bushel your team has done something wrong.
And have you ever thought of using SRMS. Duel Srm 6 is amazing in my hunchback.

my only problem with ECM isnt the ECM itself it is the lag shield that high ping fast moving light mechs with ECM get
I cant begin to count the number of times Ive got of a perfect shot on a light mech at speed, see the impact graphic of the shell hitting the mech but no damage being registered...
gets old really fast

equip a tag and stay out over 180 meters...

um no... it most times comes down to you and your team go one way and the Ravens all push the other way out of sight and range and then hit from behind. By then... (IF) you are the LRM guy or support guy in the back, you are chewed up in a matter of seconds. And even with lasers... you have to spray for legs because of the lag shielding and other issues with hit detection. And the Raven pilots know this so they just come right after you knowing that you may be able to take one out and damage another or two but the pack tactic with ECM Ravens and even commandos at times is too much for anyone to take on if you are not stuck right up your own teams backside for support. And to be honest... you should not ALWAYS have to stick that close to your team out of fear that you will be caught by yourself.

I dunno seems like you get caught up in what I like to call. "The spin of death"
The Raven circles around you and you start backing up and spinning his direction and he just keeps circling around you. Eventually you die. But if you also have other lights on your team they should get them before they get to you.
It honestly isn't very hard to peg those little ******** with my ac/20.

all I can say is DAFAQ? Are you stupid? ECM as they have it now does the job of THREE moduals and one of its effects isnt even available in 3050. ROFL Who needs to re read the rules? ROFL

equip a tag and stay out over 180 meters...
equipping tag to counter ECM is just plain out BS. Tag was meant to be a tool to help LAZE/TAG targets for missile support not stop an ECM bubble. Its stupid that we have to keep the tag pointer on the target to disrupt its ECM. You want to make Tag good against ECM? Then once i hit that ECM mech with Tag... let it break the ECM for a few seconds even after i drop the Tag laser off of it. That would make Tag a lot more potent against ECM.
