To those that find themselves playing less and less? Why do you think you are playing less then say a month or more ago?

I play less for two reasons:

1. Something is definitely different in the netcode; shooting a stationary turret-Atlas should do damage every time when I nail them dead CT. About 20% of the time, the graphic plays out, but it does nothing. How does a stationary target have lag armor? lol

2. (kind of a two-parter) Lack of new content. If we already had a vast array of mechs and maps from which to choose, having new content would not matter as much. However, we really only have 4 maps, and for some reason, I keep getting this weird map cycle where it plays the same map, back-to-back, for about 1-1.5 hours, then finally changes...and does it again on the new map. This just feels grindy and repetitive as hell.

And then you have the fact that, for most people, the last mech addition that mattered was the Stalker. I do not even drive one, but it still changed the game; the Spider is just another fast target running around, with the same mobility in combat but less firepower than the other lights (jump jets do not help you evade fire...they actually make it easier for me to hit you). In other words: pointless. I know my view on the Spider will differ from some, but I have yet to see an effective Spider pilot who was not more effective in one of the other light mechs (or the CDA-2A Super Jenner).

Anyway, this is why I am playing less; I do not want to burn myself out before new maps and useful chassis/tech are introduced.

I'm a occasional player and most of the time I play only one or two days a week due to real life (Yes there exists something like that :) And I wouldn't say that I am good in this game... not at all... I come from the RPG corner, not the shooter corner. But I am a BT Fan since many years now and I like the universe, story etc...

So I play much less than many ppl here around. But I too feel a decrease of spirit of playing the game. Most time I am on a team with a friend who plays the game. It's very rare now that I am playing alone as PuG.

- because of the few maps: exploring new surroundings is fun, but if there will be some more maps in the future, you should have a chance to choose one.
- because of the community: hardly one match without one or more player who know everything better than you. Who think who can get rid of frustration by demoralizing the other players like saying: "oh what a **** team" "hey **** what **** are you doing?" "This team was the worst experience since I played"... Hey to all those frustrated pilots out there: its only a game. Sometimes you win, sometimes you loose. But its not reality. Its a game. And you always play on a team, so if you died first because you played your plan without even telling it to the other players don't blame the other ones for not helping you to accomplish your plan (which they couldn't have known). Or demoralize your Teammates by telling them how bad they are! That's not very polite.
And all those "I hate Raven" "I hate ECM" "I hate PuGs" "I hate premades"... as many wrote in there posts here: these debates with that titles only show new players that they can do what they want... in the end they are hated.

I have given up asking at start of the match what is the plan: it must be months ago when I got an answer. Now you can be lucky if all stomp in one direction. First communication take place when a dead frustrated player complains about his team... team? where is it? If no one talks to no one?

Yesterday I learned that another word for teammate is traitor. The last surviving pilot had lost all his weapons, only a two legged center torso with a head was standing. He decided to shut down - okay this is a relic from the R&R time to minimize the bill after game - but its worth a try. The others moved on and spared him. One of the frustrated dead players in his team told them that they should kill the shut down mech and told them the location. Okay I can understand him. He wants another match fast and didn't wanted to wait until they cap. And killing a mech increases the win. Maybe I am too much in the RPG corner and this is a shooter.... But I think that wasn't polite. But hey: it's only a game. Another match another winner or looser.

Hey I can better live with one afk or one farmer in a match than with a frustrated "know-it-better-complainer".

But this far only on the community. I will not say anything about the "we are the elite of MWO" players...

So what I wanted to say: in most matches there is one who knows everything better than you BUT ONLY CAN SPILL ******* WORDS AND DON'T GIVE ADVICE!

I can live with the bugs of the game. It's open Beta. I can live with the choice of mechs for now. But the maps are getting boring. And if you are bored to have River City Night 3 times in a row and your mech isn't equipped for that brawling map... And then if one player think he is the super mechwarrior with a kill ratio of 5... THEN even I get frustrated.

match making is horrible, the devs have a woody for the raven 3L w/ ecm, lag shield, oh yeah 8 man premades ruling the game with said raven. this is part of the reason why more then a few people i use to play with dont play anymore. and the stinking FPS BUG

1. Netcode, light mechs, rubberbanding, etc. - it's kinda ridiculous how a light can engage an Atlas in close quarters combat, do some damage and disengage unscathed because all my AC20/SRM6/MLas shots hit the air all the time. For reference, that same Atlas can tear down another assault to pieces in like 20-30 sec.

2. Ballistics firing delay - it feels totally random between 0.5-1 sec after pressing the button. While this is OK when targeting heavies and assaults, scoring a hit on mediums is quite chancy and hitting lights is almost out of the question, especially combined with point 1 above.

3. Maps and C-Bills income - at an average of 100k per game, you need like 70-100 games to get a new heavy or assault. Then some 10-20 more for each upgrade or a couple of weapons and another 30 games if you want an XL engine. To sum it up, you need 120+ games just to buy a mech and **** it a little and at 10-15 min per game that's at least 20-30 hours grind. Now imagine playing the same 4 maps for 20 hours just to get a mech you'd only use to get the chasis xp for unlocking elite and multiply by 3 - kinda takes the fun out of the game, especially if you happen to be a casual player.

4. Matchmaking - as a casual player I don't belong to a group/faction/w.e. nor do I want to - I kinda fancy the lone wolf idea. And while playing in PUGs has always been a game of chance, I'd rather leave it at that for both sides - it's not fun at all fighting against a coordinated team that just swarms you/your team members one by one and rips you apart. Make organized teams fight each other and leave the PUG scene to the actual PUGs.

5. Matchmaking 2 - PLEASE make teams of comparable tonnage - it's dumb when 5 assaults face 5 lights.

Ecm and lagshield infuriates me, and causes me to end my sessions after a few matches sometimes.

Things that make me play less:

1 - Unbalanced mechanics and crappy netcode/ hitreg
2 - Burned out from playing too much
3 - SSRM's on lights ( they are a must to stay competitive )
4 - Can't find a mech suited for my play style and esthetic needs
5 - Bought new games (one of which has only MP) that are a lot more fun to play than MW:o

It's a common play style for me for games in general. Similar to WoW or D3 or any other game I've played, I typically play a lot at the beginning of a new game / content patch to earn up the equipment / familiarity (in the case of FPS/Moba games that don't really need grind) needed to be 'comfortable' in a game. Normally I'd prioritize playing during those weeks/months and then take it easy after I feel like I'm established in the game gear/level/whatever else-wise. So now I can log in and play whenever I want without feeling that my stable of mechs and stash of equipment is too far behind that I can't enjoy a good variety of mechs.

It took awhile but I realized I dislike games that 'force' me to log in every day (WoW). People with more free time might have other opinions but I do have other things I like to do. ;)

1. Bored by doing same stuff over and over again.
2. Frustrated by playing with bad players on my team.
3. Lack of new content.

Oh this is an easy answer. I stopped playing shortly after capture rewards were removed, because I love objective based tactical shooters. Deathmatch I can have better in Quake 3 Arena, it's a lot more fast paced and twitchy. I haven't played Mechwarrior in Multiplayer before MWO, but played every single player MW game so far and they allways were tactical simulations revolving around doing objective based missions like defend or attack certain buildings, convoys, areas. I hoped MWO would take that formula and simply add multiplayer to it. Sadly the core game is obviously developing elsewhere so I'm gone. Most probably until CW hits us. And if it turns out CW is just deathmeatches over pseudo persistent ground (still the same maps only that they now have representation on a galaxy map and change color there when another faction wins it) I'm gone for good and back to playing single player Mechwarrior.

Played five games today out of a month of not playing.

Boring.

The major thing that killed me wanting to play anymore is purely ECM.

Played a lot during closed beta. Mostly waiting for them to add the mechs I want, as well as community warfare, more maps and DX11. Basically just waiting for the bugs to be squashed and the meat to be added.

Switched to this game from WOT for the last 5-6 days and guess what ;). I just hit the WOT icon few seconds ago and the client is updating, not a small update as it is still running - been 4 mins and 88%. Guys at World of Tanks can yell updates in a week period, but MWO .... nothing new after few months ^_^.... I'm getting a feeling that there is only a one guy behind all of this but he has to be extremely skilled, so we actiolly have to congratulate him what he has done so far

Well i will stop playing after this double Xp weekend to level up my hunchback.
Reasons? Hmm nearly the same like all the others. Matchbalancing is a pure joke most times with beginners in my team vs a team of founders +over 50% its a 6/7 vs 8. No ecm balancing in matchmaking so team with more and better ecm pilots win to 75%. Next are the immortal lights because of the super lagshield. Some mech and weapon balancing. And last im tired of these 'learn to aim, use other weapons or find a team' posts if you have a problem. Some new maps would also be nice but its only a beta, bf3 had nearly the same amounts of maps when it came out but new gamemodes need to come only playing assault all the time is boring.

greetings

I'm not playing at all for 2 months now because this game is getting worse every patch. It was a lot fun in closed then it is now. Same with some friends of mine who stopped playing or outright refuse to try after a first impression.

Once a week or so I'm having a look at the forums, to see if it got better patchwise and if we still have constant rage levels about gamebreakers and I-WIN-Button balancing.

To think about rejoining I'd need these things fixed first:
- Netcode / Latency
- Proper balancing of equipment (PGI still has not figured out basic math. Sad.)
- Something that is worth beeing called "Matchmaking"

Hi gang.
Well. besides agreeing with almost all of the previously stated problems (hit regestration etc.) my main reasos for playing less, must decidedly be the lack of a proper means of communication. And the extremely slow earnings of c-bills.

Communications:
1) Its rather nervewracking to have to leave the control of your mech just to try and type in "help, im getting slaughtered by a raven in E7" (I pilot an "Phatlas" ;)
2 ) Trying to impliment any sort of tactics is virtually impossible because of the slow means of communication. which for me kills a lot of the fun because it degrades the game to random slaughter. And if I want that I can go to warhammer fps instead and play.

C-bills:
1) When I was first turned on to this game by a friend, I was completely oblivious as to building a mech and earning c-bills.
but after earning some dough with the trial mech (stalker) I bought my first mech ( a Cataprhact ) I invested a lot of time in this as i dont believe in just buying it with MCC. It just feels better to have earnt it somehow ^_^

But regrettably I made an investment error because I discovered that you couldnt just use the XP you earn in one mech to upgrade another mech. So I settled in to grind some more as my goal was to get me an Atlas. I soon discovered though, that my c-bill flow would be an issue and that it would take me a rediculous amount of games to earn c-bills enough for the atlas. This I discovered, was because I no longer had the c-bill starter bonus.

Therefor I tried to figure out how to delete my account and start a new one so I could start all over again.
...I still haven't figured out how to delete my old account...
So I made a new one, and worked from there.

Fastforward to me buying an atlas after endles hours in a trial stalker... <_<

I get the gear I want for it an so on and so forth
And lo and behold I run in to the obstacle that I need 3 Chassis of the same type (Atlas) in order for me to unlock all the xp goodies... :(

In an average game I make cirka 100,000 depending on team and win/loss

In a good game I will make around 130,000 and in a bad loss around 30,000 So lets say on average i make 80,000 pr game.

the next Atlas I want is the DC model. it costs 10,486,012 c-bills

if I divide the cost (10,486,012) with the earnings (80,000) to get the amount of games I need to play to get the atlas

10,486,012/80,000 = 131 games.

-----
Sidebar:
On average i make around, lets say, 600 xp pr game for the chassis Im in.( its usually a lot higher if I win) which after a 131 games comes to 78.645XP (chassis specific xp that I cant use for anything else than Atlas's)
-----

A hundred and thirty one games.........for one chassis..
Fellas..thats a mighty tall order.

I like the game, correction I love the game!
Who doesnt love the concept of robots dukeing it out with highpowered lasers and other fancy weaponry

But those 2 issues has pulled my gameferver out onto the street, tied it up and shot it in the head.

I would love to come help with the game issues, but have no computer game building skills what so ever. So all I can do is help with the shape and form.

on an ending note, should you want any serious suggestions on how to modify the issues mentioned in the thread ( both my comment and the ones before mine ) feel free to contact me as I am an avid fan of what you are trying to pull togher.

Sincerely yours Unending8 (formerly Unending) :D
