Apparently they were forced to not include their functional mechlab too.

I was really excited about what Piranha could have done with MWO before, but MWLL being a game I've invested significant time in, now I won't even be supporting MWO.

I can understand that there are rumors about PGI shutting down MWLL (this is internet after all, and people has tendency to belive the worst things), but is there any real fact backing up those rumors? There is also statement in MWLL site:

Quote

First and foremost there has not, nor has there ever been, any legal action or threat of legal action leveraged against the MechWarrior: Living Legends development team. This was an assumption of a small amount of volunteers based on incomplete information.
To clarify, the decision to discontinue development of MechWarrior: Living Legends was made by the founders and owners of the project.

Understandable, less traffic in these 'Off-Topic' parts!

Personally I think PGI will, eventually, pursue hobbyist projects. You will start to see them develop BT mobile phone apps and games etc. as they split the IP up into smaller and smaller discrete projects. Listening to people such as Russ on NGNG it is clear from the tone of his voice when he says 'we have exclusivity', that he is proud of that and will pursue it.

MWLL had a license agreement with microsoft to create a TC mod on the CE2 based on the MW IP

Which could've very well expired in 2013. You get license only for a set period of time (the reason why MW2:Mercs exists, or the Heavy Gear games, both of which were made by Activision to dodge the fact they lost the MW license).
