It didn't identify a specific virus, but say the reputation is low and trigger a quarantine anyway.

Please double check or work with Norton to remove it from being trigger

It's an unsigned exe. Norton will flag it regardless. Also, Norton is awful. :)

That's why I uninstalled it.

If its a choice between Norton and MWO, I choose MWO!

Norton will slow your computer down more than the malware it protects you from

Chances are, if you are running Norton on your machine, YOU DONT DESERVE THE BETA!

While I don't have personal experience with Norton, but can't you just simply whitelist that system profiler app? That should be a viable workaround for the issue.

Viable workaround-- sure. However, lack of signed .exe is a good start at reporting potential issues. I came to report the same thing.

Its a norton thing, personnally i dont recommend norton since a lot of the security settings are high by default and trigger alerts/prevent people doing stuff they actually want to do so they end up turning it off as most users find it quicker to turn off than try and adjust settings

Worked fine on mcafee

Open your norton security suite. go to settings, scroll down to 'auto-protect' and turn it off. I just turned off mine for 15 minutes, and that cured my ill.

Good Luck!

STOP USING NORTON... (facepalms)
Biggest POS ever to come out. Windows 7 firewall is better.
But for me I don't have to worry since I use a linux with a windows emulator.

Im not worried about hacks and trojans.

Pro-tip, don't use Norton. It is a drain on your system's resources and will often have false positives.

Avira and Microsoft security essentials are good (free) alternatives.

it is amusing how quickly people will push their own opinions on others even when you are not asked to. had he said" any suggestions for a better VP program?" then go ahead and bash. personally i have used norton, macafee, windows defender, and maleware bytes. and i have noticed almost no weakness in any of them. and while norton does require a little more time to set up, i use it because i would rather a false positive then a false negative, as for the actual problem mentioned, you can simply disable the antivirus for 15 minutes then turn it back on or tell it to ignore the threat. for the record i use norton 360.

Why are people still using norton when MSE gets the job done w/o any subscription fees and a lot less bloat?

Personnally i find it amusing so many (including yourself) users of norton advocate turning it off which defeats the purpose of having it in the first place - Yes even if its only for 15 minutes.

AVG is another free (and quite good) anti-virus program that i've not heard of people having to turn off to use there PC's if i was sounding to much of a fanboy for mcafee

All, Just tell Norton to go pound sand for 15 minutes. Or longer if need be.
