As alluded too by a previous poster, most of the teams competing in RHOD at least the good ones, are very sniper heavy.
And yes..we win our games 99% of the time.
I've never seen your team. I've not seen any sniper matches in 8-mans since they came back. I would estimate that I've played about 60-70 or so which isn't all that many. I've seen a few teams run a pair of gausscats, always escorted by a Raven or Cicada ECM or sticking close to a D-DC. They way I've seen them used is as medium range snipers usually in a flank or just behind the front line. One team used them on Caustic as an overwatch on one side of the crater while the rest of the team engaged on the other side.
In any case, I have never seen 8-mans play a sniper game other than trading a few shots before closing to medium range, which is what leads me to believe the long range game in 8-mans is effectively dead. It seems like the primary weapons on mech builds should be geared towards medium to close range, with long range being secondary. It is effective in these smaller maps, especially with ECM being such a huge factor if you're on the side with less ECM mechs.

They said this for 8-mans or all matches? If the answer is all matches, throw the answer out as irrelevant.

All maps contain massive coverage that can be used with ease, even as A PUGGER, to close to within 200 meters, which is where most of the fighting is done. I don't even feel the Range difference of guns, unless it's a pulse laser.

#2. Since when did any 8 man play with the Units "YOU" wanted them to run..??

Question: Do you think you should be able to "DICTATE" what the other team runs..??

Back when I first started in closed beta it was very much alive. The background blur wasn't as bad as it is now, X4 zoom was native and effective, they nerfed it when they brought out the PiP module. ECM was the last straw, reducing the number of LRM boats put more people into brawlers, most matches I play in now end up as an all in brawl. A sniper trying to shoot into the melee is just as likely to hit a friendly mech especially with high ping times like mine.
Role warfare??? Lets see, should I play an electronic warfare role or maybe an electronic warfare role.....so many choices.

I'm not sure where you're getting that the OP wants other teams to change what they're doing. All he said was his team's opponents generally don't have (range-)balanced compositions, and was wondering why.

Have and seen many amazing gauss snipers, always shoot into the melee.

No. It's because no one stands out in the open long enough to get hit with them. I could be rude and say only stupid players stand out in the open long enough to get sniped and LRM'ed but I'm not a rude person.

No and I never insinuated any such thing. May you are ESL, I don't know, but if you think I am in any way trying to dictate what a team runs, you have completely misinterpreted the OP.

Lots of good long range teams out there, came across PPC snipers on caustic valley that ripped us a few new holes (never came across this before, very suprising) although counters were learned and deployed quick and we had the fortune of playing them a few more times. Fun and respectful group they were

I don't get killed by LRMs, but this kinda implies that ECM doesn't need to effect LRMs at all.

Is that why over half my kills are from large lasers and gauss rifle shots? LRMs are bad. They can only ever do stuff at range, while other weapons with great range work just as well at spitting distance.
I don't use LRMs, I wouldn't know if they're bad or not. I know that popping out to snipe is tantamount to suicide pre-ECM unless you're running an organized premade.
So over half your kills are from direct fire weapons, all of mine are.
