The Lance Armstrong version of this post.
I use steroids to help me win.. its gods fault for not making me a super athlete - cant be arsed to train...
does this make me a bad person.. i dunno.. i certainly am a cheating F..k tho

Quote of the thread! It will take quite a bit to top this one. Next thing you know people will be justifying changing the skin color of mechs to bright pink to see the mechs easier. Well... I would've seen them eventually so I don't see the problem in it. pfffffft

With the current state of the game, yeah. It's hard to conclusively argue that it's wrong to use them. There's no real competitive scene yet, so there's not much to be gained from using them or lost from not using them. Fact is, short of assisted aiming or piloting macros, anything you can macro to a key can be done without much effort with normal key mapping.

I maintain that it's questionable territory when playing competitively though.

As for the TAG macro, I have the left shift mapped to weapon group 6, and TAG always mapped to weapon group 6. That way I can easily hold it down for as long as I need.

I played with a group in the RHOD tournament for a couple of rounds until we bowed out - I didn't use AHK myself but I wouldn't have had any issues with any of the teams we played against doing so. Those matches come down more to positioning and alpha striking than they do to sustained DPS, so I don't think stuff like the UAC macro would help anyway. Toggling TAG on and off is functionality the devs have said they're investigating as well, so I wouldn't have an issue with that one either (again, rarely use TAG myself either).

To those that still have an issue with AHK scripts even after the devs have said they're ok with it, why not just get groups of 16 together and sync drop against each other? I can understand wanting to play the game a particular way, but if the way you want to play isn't the way everyone else does you're going to wind up disappointed unless you do something about it. Posting calling people cheats for doing something the devs have said is fine isn't going to get the outcome you want.

If they put a toggle in the UAC5 so it won't jam on single fire, the macro goes away.

If they put a toggle on TAG, the macro goes away.

Simple game design fixes that end the screaming.

If I could macro chat for pugs ("Target A", "lights only run back to base", "don't chase the freaking spider!"), that would be useful. Must be a way to do that. Or just put the ability to set up preset chat messages in the game in the first place. VOIP ingame for all would help too.

Yes you can. With the right hardware and software knowledge about macros.
*important is the short delay between the typed letters and the msg must be short too .. since the MW:O chat blocks the keys while you chatting*

TAG pretty much requires a toggle macro...
