If you have a ping higher than 200, you'll only hit things that are barely moving. Because of hit detection and lag shooting, you'll have a better time using locked on weapons mainly.

Well said. I think the best thing PGI could do for the brand now is to just fold.

They have proven there is a market for Battletech games and Mechwarrior games, now just roll over so that others can pick up the property and do something worth while with it.

Honestly I don't want them to yet. I spent $60 and I haven't spent a single MC or activated my premium time. Not sure what I'm waiting for, maybe I'm hopeful they will actually put something in worth buying or a reason to play on days that aren't patch days..

boot up MWLL for the time being.

You mean that mod that was originally intended to be finished in 08 but never hit full release before being dropped?

Give up what you know from past MW games. Really this is the best advice I can give for anyone coming to this game. It is simply it's own beast with it's own balance and quirks.

You know, a lot of what held true in MW4 still does....

...despite a few (on the surface) 'huge' things, the core gameplay, the skill set and tactics are nearly identical with the exception of information i.e .radar, ECM, BAP and module (which didn't exist in MW4) behavior. Once you recognize the mechs, understand the weapons instinctively (recycle times/ranges/travel times..etc.), it all just starts coming back.

The OP also probably played the game during the worst time imaginable. Premades (people playing in groups for the OP) were out in force, hell I spent nearly a quarter of my matches as a premade. During primetime hours, either he had a premade on his side wiping things out before he could get to them, or a premade on the other wiping him out before he could do anything....

....its pretty tough to play the game when you're constantly pitted against experienced players, don't know the mechanics yet, don't know the maps, don't know the regular patterns battles flow out in, etc...

...it takes a lot of matches before you start getting anywhere on your own and start figuring things out the hard way.

I like humor and jokes as much as the next guy, but geeze has the old salt worn out the whole "urbie" thing. Not to mention you can't see half that crap unless you are looking around in your cockpit instead of fighting.

To be fully honest, the only decorations worth purchasing are the bobbleheads.

Anyone who buys the banners is just an ***** due to the fact you cant really see it. And for full disclosure, I really like the urbie bobblehead, and I did in fact spend a tiny bit of my founders MC on it just because I found it to be one of the most entertaining things that they have put into the game in a long while.

Let that sink in for a moment, the fact that the bobblehead is more interesting and entertaining...than the other features they have bothered with...

Yeah I don't have a problem with people buying that stuff, but I won't. The paint thing is laughable at best and pathetically greedy at worst.

I mean the fact that a 100 ton 3 story tall robot can not be seen on sensors or heard by ears. How is that at all realistic?

you're aware that a mech (to my current knowledge) is an enclosed system, like you could go into space and not die? not to mention theres a giant nuclear reactor behin/under you humming and making noise all the time.

P.S I've never had an issue hearing mechs walking around close by you might not have notice the atlases(atlai?) because they move so slowly their footsteps don't really stand out.

You do realize nuclear reactors are 100% silent right, like not even a hum. Note how they are used extensivly in submarines that are able to run 100% silent at slow speeds to avoid detection.

100% silent? Seems to be a stretch don't you think?

Ok silent enough not to be herd with the most advance active sonar that we currently have, which WILL detect things as low on volume as dropping a 1lb metal object on the metal floor of the sub.

My cousin was in the navy for 12 years, spent 4 on a sub. I think he is insane and you couldnt pay me enough to live in a tin can for 3-4 months at a time but i guess someone has to man the subs.

Of course, there or alot of other sources for sound just like the props on a sub. I was directly responding to the reactor making noise thats why that was the only section of the post i quoted.
