PS, LRMs aren't that great unless someone is dumb enough to just stand in the open not moving and taking full volleys.

I love being that clown. I feel bad for the poor atlas without ECM, but watching his health drop by 10% per volley brings me great satisfaction. If you can't find cover when the enemy has a LRM boat you deserve to be hit by all those missiles.
Of course ECM will ruin my day, but I have my Hunchback to solve that problem

Or more aptly, new problems created.
Anyone that finds LRMs too hard now... I would rarely throw around the L2P comment, as I hate it completely, but in the land of ECM, taking a pure LRM boat requires some serious balls.
One thing I can say about LRMs is, other than the week of Artemis Death from Above, every single time I died to an LRM salvo, it was my fault. I wish I could say that about more mechanics in this game!
Personally, I was happy with the state of things pre ECM, with one exception. There should be an option to disable AMS so it doesn't spill it's entire load into the hill in front of you. Otherwise, AMS offered a good counter to LRMs.

You're right. Even with AMS going full bore it still hurts my poor Atlas and I'm forced to scramble for cover.

I don't know what game you're playing but it's obviously not MWO.
Or frankly what books he read.
LRMs feature heavily into the novels, hell the Archer is the mech of choice of most of the whose-who in the Battletech universe, while in the actual Technical Readouts, there are dozens of LRM boats... canon. Unlike the abominations like the 6xPPC Stalkers, or Streakcats.

Oh, let's pretend there's no such thing as the awesome.

2 days ago I watched a Commando, last guy left on my team, that had ECM and was all red crit all over and had only one medium laser left kill 2 Catapults (only 2 left on enemy team) that couldn't run away from him and had nothing but LRMs. One just kept shooting in to the ground in front of him apparently unaware that LRM has a minimum range, and finally gave up, ran OOB and died. The other one kept trying to bull charge him and finally died. It was SO sad to watch and probably had 2 people rage quit the game.

With the advent of ECM, if LRMs are causing a problem for you, then you need to adjust your tactics, because LRMs are easier than ever to avoid and ignore.
My current issue is streaks - I used to be able to win a 1v2 light fight if neither of the other pilots were good, but with the auto-hit streaks it's become a numbers game rather than a skill game. Well-aimed lasers need to be better than auto-hit streaks, but they just aren't, so people go with the auto-hit weapons all the time. The light game was much better when streaks weren't king, and pilot skill ruled the day (also helped immensely by collisions).

I mean seriously? Are you having difficulty passing the basic intelligence test it takes to avoid your average missile barrage? Does your tactical tool box consist solely of walking across open areas into the the teeth of well positioned support mechs... if so I have no pity for you.
The endless cycle of buffs and nerfs have left LRM's in an ok place right now, largely because of two reasons:
1. The aformentioned IQ test... 80% of the time if you get hit by LRM's it's your own fault for not getting out of the way.
2. ECM has been a game changer that requires most support mechs to either have active spotters with tag or tag for them selves in either case creating a much more difficult life for indirect support pilots.
Now I do think an LRM Boat with no ability to defend itself up close is silly because they become so much meat for the mill if you get up close. But that said the larger point is whipping a dead horse won't help especially when you are wrong.

I simply does not happen to an at least slightly experienced pilot!

No, collisions didn't help anything.
