These are my two cent builds so far I am still debating on how to build out the AL model. I use the XL engines for faster movement and the ability to have the armaments that I do have on them. I find that the staying power of the cent combined with the mobility that it does have with these XL engines makes this one hell of a mech. I am open to any suggestions about the AL model or these. Thanks.

I have a really uninspired 9-AL build, but if you wanna give it a try go ahead:

255STD engine (pulled from a stalker, go with 250 if you want nearly max armor) 82.6 normal, ~90 tweaked
Endo Steel
15 DHS (10+5)
4x MLas
2x SRM6 (3t ammo in LT with a CASE)
320/338 armor (LA 20/30, legs 45/48 each)

So yes, it's basically a HBK-4SP wannabe, but it does work really well.

The build I'm using on the AL isn't "fancy", but it's extremely versatile... Good speed, plenty of armor and excellent firepower for a 50-ton mech. You can take on other mediums and heavies with no trouble at all -- and assaults too for that matter (provided you can get around outside their firing arcs).

I've been running my AL with endo, dhs, std. armor, stock engine. 2 Large laser, 2 Med Laser, 2 srm6. 304 armor, ams. 58 damage I believe. Can overheat some, not too bad. I had never run srm6 before and killed myself a few times firing them when already near shutdown.

Changed it last night to 245 std engine, 4 med laser and 2 srm6. Much faster and cooler, and only 8 points less damage.

I have almost enough cbills to get the A and want to try the whack-a-mole variant with it.

I will have to try both of those builds out.

SRM-6+4 might work better, since the Centurion only has 10 missile tubes. The extra 2 SRMs are in another salvo.

My -AL is close to stock, but I replaced the LRM's with SRM's like the above posters.
Added Endo, Ferro, DHS, and AMS. It does run hot though.

With the XL engine you could try Banky's build, or stuff 2 LLAS's in the arm.

My personal recommendation on the 9-A is to replace the AC10 with LBX10, making it easier to aim. With a (tweaked) speed of 92+ km/h, a giant shotgun and triple SSRM, this thing is a light 'Mech's worst nightmare. I had four matches last Saturday hunting lights exclusively and oh boy wasn't that amazing.

Flipside, other heavier mechs laugh at the LBx and it's weak spray. It's good on lights, but really bad damage overall.

Bad? Yes. REALLY bad? No. You can always, with some effort, concentrate the pellets on a single area by doing point-blank backstab. You shouldn't engage a Heavy brawler face-to-face in the first place anyway.

Here are the two Centurion builds I typically run with:

CN9-A
Endo Steel
Engine: Standard 250
Armor: 304 Ferro-Fibrous
Heat Sinks: 10 DHS
Weapons: 1 UItra AC/5 with 3 tons ammo & CASE, 2 Medium Lasers, 3 Streak SRM-2s with 1 ton ammo and CASE.

I typically use my CN9-A for scout hunting. It's pretty effective at tearing apart lights with its Streaks as long as I can catch them without ECM. Otherwise it's a good escort for an assault 'Mech. The standard engine will ensure that the whole 'Mech will have to get wrecked before you get cored.

CN9-AL
Endo Steel
Engine: Standard 250
Armor: 322 Ferro-Fibrous
Heat Sinks: 12 DHS
Weapons: 1 ER PPC, 2 Medium Lasers, 1 Small Laser, 2 SRM-6 with 2 tons ammo and CASE

My -AL is a good all-around striker 'Mech. It has long range damage capability afforded by the ER PPC, but it has a heavy punch up close thanks to the SRMs. It does run hot and if you're not careful you'll overheat in the middle of a brawl. The SRM-6s do generate a significant amount of heat when group-fired so you have to watch out when you're rapidly alternating between the lasers and the missiles. I also went with a standard engine here for maximum survivability.

My AL is running a 250 standard engine, endo, 320 armor, 17 DHS, 2 larges, and 2 mediums. Of my 3 CN9s it's my favorite. Solid, unexceptional, gets the job done.

This isn't how missile salvos work. The salvo is calculated off of how many tubes there are, it doesn't care how many tubes are already being used by another launcher. You can fire two SRM6's at the same time because each is less than 10. e.g. If you were to fire an LRM20 it would come out in two salvos (10->10), but if you fired two LRM10's they would both launch at the same time.

This is my AL
Posted Image

I have not used it in a while.

I like the mid to long range support I can give in this mech. It makes an OK harassment sniper as well.

I use the tag to spot for other team members and target through ECM. The Artemis is for when I have good direct line of sight on a target. I have used other variations on the build.

I've use a PPC/ERPPC, 250 XL engine, and a large laser. I'm thinking of turning the heat sinks into doubles and trying out a PPC again.

One build I had rather good success with is did not have any missiles. It had two large lasers in the arm and the pair of medium lasers in the center torso. A faster engine and heat sinks to handle it. I had very good results with that load out. It was an accurate mid/long range sniper and could support my team in a brawl.

I rock the same build on one of mine. Probably my favourite mech overall, I just love it for some reason.

I also like to run a 250XL, 2xLRM15+Artemis, 3xMLAS, and TAG on another. I like to think of it as a ghetto-Trebuchet and I love raining down missiles like a Catapult.

Mine actually runs a 245, Endo, FF, 12 DHS and two SSRM. Heat efficiency is 1.16 which is not bad, but I'm starting to feel it's not worth it.

I understand what everyone is saying about the STD engine, but the XL just gives me more weight to play with and added speed thus increasing my survivability.

I like my build and do upwards of 400 damage consistently.

CN9-A
STD 235
Endo
FF Armor
1x AC5 w/ 1 ton ammo
2x Medium Lasers
3x SRM 6 w/ 2 ton ammo

1) I can "plink" from afar, and the AC5 has a good damage output when you consider it's fire rate and full aiming range.
2) 3x SRM 6 is just plain dirty and will wreck anything that gets close to you or anyone unfortunate enough to allow you to close on them (I've taken a fully armored Atlas on 1v1, came out very torn up with an arm gone and armor pretty much stripped... but I survived and he didn't) --> had he had trip-SRM6 that might have been another story.
3) 1 ton of ammo is all I need for the AC5 because a.) when people aim for that "big stupid arm", they aren't stripping off anywhere near the majority of my firepower and b.) when i'm out of ammo i just have another shield arm.
4) I look sexy and my mech squeaks when running (need to put some oil in the joints i guess).

CN9-A "Boom-Turion"
STD 260
Endo
FF Armor
2x Medium Lasers
3x SRM 6+ Artemis w/ 4 ton ammo

CN9-D
XL 340 (runs 125 ish with tweek)
Endo
FF Armor
1x Large Laser
2x SRM 6+ Artemis w/ 3 ton ammo

Ballistics just weight to much and are so easy to shoot off this mech.

Just got a CN9-A today (my first Cent) and I've been using that build except without the endo/ff and artemis. Pretty damn satisfying firing 3 srms in someones face, and I can see why it seems to be the standard build most people use with the CN9-A as you're firepower is located in the torsos so it doesn't matter if your super vulnerable arms get shot off.
