what PGI owes me, you, and all of us is simple: to honor and respect the vast nature of the task they have chosen to pursue. to honor and respect the legacy from which this game is being drawn, to design it in such a way that it not only survives it's first year, but to thrive and live for years yet to come. The BS comes in making questionable design choices, such as saying: well, we KNOW such an item like 360 degree radar is canon and a standard item, but we feel it is more 'tactical' to NOT have it, and allow for sneaking up on mechs, BUT, if you want it, pay us real cash for MC, convert your MXP and pay 15,000 GXP and 2,000,000 C-bills for it. This sort of tactic is not honoring the vast legacy from which this title comes. We expect and demand that proper respect and veneration for the nearly 30 YEARS of history this franchise has, and we bloody well demand to see that veneration in the quality of the product they are putting out there for us to play.

I know games can take YEARS to create, BUT, this game, in PGI's hands, has taken less than 3 from concept to alpha <friends and family beta> to closed beta to launch. this is lightning fast and the issues we see are a direct result of the alacrity with which PGI is moving forward. we should just NOW be touching the first wave of invites into CLOSED BETA, not struggling with a shaky product in its launch configuration.

First of all, anyone who pays for GXP conversion is doing so because they are lazy. I have every module from grinding it out. I had the newest modules the moment I patched in the last two releases because I ground out the gxp. Modules are meant to be ground out, they said as much. What any of that has to do with the speed at which they are updating and releasing content is beyond me.

You'll have god knows how many posts by the time I click the 'Post' button but your history on these forums shows just how often your rhetoric comes forth. You spend more time telling PGI what they are doing wrong and assuming you know more than an entire company of development staff.

Why don't you send them the resume so you can show everyone just how much you really know about these things. Maybe you can be the new project manager or perhaps a team leader? Press the proverbial halt button and then march on over to the command chair and give your tongue lashing? I'm sure you would know exactly how to move things forward appropriately?

Point being, this is their project. PGI paid cash money for the rights, not you. How they build this game is entirely up to them. Thousands of forum posts with no actual substance are just that. Quit or play, but don't diminish the hard work these guys have put in up to this point. And before you banter on about (insert QQ here), understand that none of your points were valid because they were based on your zero experience on developing a f2play platform.

I love Mechwarrior enough to pay for more MC.

However, after spending $60 so far on the game, I think I deserve a bit more than what's available.
Sure, many people have spent more, but $60 could buy a retail game and it would be nearly complete.

We need maps, many of them, bug fixes and new content/CW.

Also, it'd be great if we could get top-down view images of each map...for clan meetings and strategies. (not the current ones, those are small and linear, but for the new ones, providing they are not linear)

understand me on this, and make no mistake in my intent. when I decide to put my money into a game, that game AND the company that is producing it <online games such as this> or produced it <stand alone games such as say Devil May Cry for example> has to be able to ensure a few things. First and foremost, my money and the investment that money means is not going to vaporize 20 minutes after I pay said money. Right now, PGI is doing things with this title that are to be blunt, not wholly in the best interest of THIS title or respectful of the prior titles, and as such, it is shaking the faith of players and potential investors, which, by and large means, if they keep kicking the dog the way they are, will end up killing this particular title thus making my investment vaporize and a waste. The other thing is this: My investment of money must be met with a quality product, one that can and WILL stand the test of time. When I invested my 60 at founders sale launch day, I had been in Closed Beta for about 2 weeks, and at that time, I felt secure that my investment was worth while. fast forward a touch more than 6 months later, and the over all progress is barely there, and further investments of a monetary nature are being withheld by myself and I am certain others as well. For every single step forward they take, they seem to take three or FOUR backwards.

Make no mistake in this, we are a very rabid, very picky, very knowledgeable fan base with nearly 3 decades <for those of us who are old enough to have played since the mid-late 80s or early 90's> of time in the franchise, and as such, have come to expect a very specific set of things to be covered and treated with respect and dignity. Right now, certain aspects of the PR are lacking in that respect, when we ask questions and they bypass answering on this medium only to answer on Reddit for example. Also, they stated that the assault base capture thing was a PLACE HOLDER, now, it seems they have gotten lazy to make that the FEATURE, or they are blatantly lying to us in order to cover up something unsavory, either way, this is NOT the way to go about it. Worse yet, is this whole 3rd person pov debacle. The website states at this very link near the bottom that it is FIRST PERSON then, you have lead designer Paul Inouye stating at at THIS link, that the game is designed to be 100% first person as third person breaks a key design pillar on multiple levels then Russ comes out on an NGNG podcast and fires out that they are ignoring a KEY DESIGN PILLAR in order to pander to an imaginary group of players that cannot fathom torso twist and leg facing being 2 distinct things, when that is something they USE day to day in real life, walking and talking and merging a car into traffic.

So, when I say, that they <PGI/IGP> owe not only me and you, as well as every other player as well as the franchise the proper modicum of respect and reverence, I bloody well mean it. We want a quality product that shines and shows what Mechwarrior and Battle Tech always looked like in our heads in table top or the TCG or in the books, THIS is their chance to shine, to bring this title to its FULL potential, not squander it by making dubious choices.

That's a bold statement my friend. Many of us simply do not have the time to grind as much as you do, obviously (work, kids?). So to call such choices lazy is a bit harsh, don't you think?

So where do we ask the next round of questions?

I want to know when features like Active vs Passive radar modes, Crouching, and Knockdown will be in the game.

Thanks.

Gods... so many responses from the "Entitlement/Owes me" Generation, it makes me a little sick.

PGI owes each and every one of us just 2 things. Jack and Squat. If you paid to be a Founder, than you bought into the development of a game and the possibility of what it could be some day. If you got a free code like myself and are complaining "owe me, owe me", then just simply be quiet. Myself, I have given the game money and in return I have been entertained. Simple. If this game doesn't entertain you, STOP PLAYING IT. Simple.

Bugs will be fixed and issues will be balanced not to YOUR satisfaction, but to the general satisfaction of the overall populace.

Simple.

Hey, if you wanna set your money on fire, and not demand that you get exactly what you pay for, or demand the respect you theoretically deserve as a customer, then, go ahead, let the business world trod all over you, but for the rest of us, those of us, who actually give a crap about this game and more importantly the franchise itself, we will continue to demand a high quality product that is being shown the respect that it deserves as well as the respect the franchise from which it hails the respect IT deserves, and more over the respect we as potentially paying or continued to be paying customers deserve. This is NOT entitlement, this is us expecting the decency that this franchise deserves and the decency we as the INCOME for this title deserve. if you cannot see this, that is YOUR problem.

Q: I'd like to know what your plans are for different types of ammo that's possible, like Inferno SRM rounds, Thunder LRM rounds, Armor-Piercing Autocannon rounds, and other items that could be possibly incorporated into the game, in any.
A: No plans yet. Some rounds are not available in the current timeline.

doesn't explain why LBXs can't fire regular ammo like they are supposed to,
SINCE THAT AMMO IS ALREADY IN THE GAME!

Because the mechanism (and associated toggle) to have them switch ammo types in mid-combat isn't (yet) implemented...

I haven't heard anything lately about joystick support. I am useing the user config now but the game seems not to always use these settings that were put in there. Sometimes it seems to take 3 or 4 matches befor the joystick is noticed by the game. Also if support ever shows up I hope to see force feedback supported. Thanks for your time Jim

Good lord that was a lot of answers

...yet somehow the one I keep asking again and again and again about Observer Mode just keeps being ignored.
Therefore there has to be some Malicious intent behind it just like there was about not answering ECM questions...
IoW: they know it would only open the can of worms up further and don't respect our opinions on it.

This is the question of balance, not features. Lesser damage for AP rounds for LBX - can solve your fears. Or make it heavier.

You, and all the people that behave like you are what he was talking about at the end of the OP. There is no reason for you to get so aggro about this. For one, its a game. And as far as i can tell its a very good game which i and many others enjoy quite a lot and i see a lot of potential. I think personally the BETA tag is a way of saying its a "work in progress, its not perfect but were working on it"

It really boggles my mind how awful some people on these forums behave. I've never seen so many people embarrass themselves like they do here. You people really need to learn a bit of respect. Not only for the developers and other people using these forums, but for yourselves. I often wonder if any of you read back what you type out before you click "Post".

Personally, i loved reading through the Q and A. It's given me a lot to look forward too and i honestly can't wait to see what the year brings.

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

There is A LOT of stuff that they could honestly be doing much better, and some stuff they are doing a spectacular job on. Do not get me wrong, there is stuff I love about this game. Like as just an example, the fact that when my Atlas moves, it feels like it really does weigh 100 tons, but, when you rush the game, and make no mistake they ARE rushing this, it was in Friends and FAMILY BETA 1 YEAR AGO, and spent MAYBE 5 months in CLOSED BETA before being rushed into a broken Launch. Yes, this game is launched, make no mistake on that either. That speed is FINE with a HUGE caveat. That caveat is: You are working on a game that is already released, stable, and functional as ORIGINALLY intended and you are working an EXPANSION. This fails to be a good strategy when you are <like PGI here> building a game from the GROUND UP. This game should have stayed in Alpha testing at least a year and then CLOSED BETA for a year, then take it to launch.

Part of my problem and I am sure this goes for others, is the fact that PGI is demonstrating a tendency to say ONE thing, then do the exact opposite. Like, for example the KEY DESIGN PILLAR of FIRST PERSON VIEW then stating that they are considering pandering to a phantasm group of players who are begging for 3rd person views because they cannot fathom a mechanic that is employed by each and every one of us on a day to day basis in our REAL lives. Turning the head independent of the rest of the body, or in MWO terms: Torso/Leg facings. We have reason to be weary and nervous. Especially, when, again, face it, this is a HUGE project from a very WELL ESTABLISHED FRANCHISE and is the companies FIRST project on THIS scale iirc.

@Rejarial: Deluded in your own self importance, your many rants represents the smallest, most vocal and least worth while worrying about segment of players in the game.

First off Thanks to All the PGI / IGN staff, Devs, and employees for working on this game. I'm sure the majority of us appreciate your efforts. Thanks for the answers you were able to give since I'm sure that Corporate will not let you simply speak your mind freely. Lastly I do share some of the concerns voiced by others. I would hope that PGI does not waste valuable time / money developing a 3rd person view since this has been designed and pushed as a first person Mech Sim since the first days of development. Also I would have to say that PGI could learn from BSG or GW2 in relation to the Cash Shop. $29 for a Mech is a bit much and since we can't convert excess XP or C-Bills to MC $7 for a simple Bobble head seems a bit excessive. Again thanks for the work and I'm looking forward to the game.
