I picked Raven just due to it's current level of broken. Ive seen 3 full health mechs try to take down a Raven 3l and all walk away corpses, because it was bulletproof.

I guess us Hunchback pilots are not very vocal on the forums... HBKs get a lot of "flak", but when it comes to a poll like this, the stumpy guys get the most votes! Yay us! :D

Seems like Hunchback is the most well rounded

Hunchbacks are too easy to gimp in combat because all of the hardpoints are in one torso.

Catapult just rolled 7 kills in a PUG match... doesn't mean I'm good, just means I sucked less

Hunchie all the way 50 tons that cam be outfitted as a lazer boat or a guass or ac/20 or a srm or lrm boat its very versitile mech and if you were actually looking at pure power and versitility on any battle field. Saying that till the Victor or Highlander show up to brawl out every other mech into the mud.

You should make "Anything with ECM" an option. :D

That's what I was going to say.

I'm fairly effective with my Cent AL but I was never very much of a -team player- with it. You know the moron that runs off and gets killed. ALTHOUGH I've been running a spider with nothing but lasers on it and have been picking out some heavies/assaults to follow around and use as shields >.> Starting to realize that if I make myself an irritation to attacking mechs I'm just enough of a distraction to let a Phract or Atlas or Stalker blow the offending baddie to bits! Will have to try that in my Cent when i finish with this Spidey

Recently I've been running Cataphracts (generally brawler configs, though I do have a quad AC5 4x), and those I've had a fair bit of success in. Very much a good mech.

Though generally feel as though I help more when I'm running my Centurion CN9-AL (traditionally based around a standard 255 and three large lasers, more recently an XL 255 with a multi-range weapons loadout to provide fire support in practically any situation), probably since it carries a fairly high amount of firepower, and is speedy enough to jump to a team-mates aid.

I'm at my best playing a ballistic heavy mech. For now it's my Cataphracts. In a month (hopefully) I'll be rolling in a Jager. I'm already building up the C-Bills to buy them all.

Thanks for all the comments and votes. So top three effective mechs are catapult, hunchback, and atlas. Not what I would have guessed. Centurion gets 13 votes, too? Also a surprise. Spider and Jenner get only one vote a piece. Jenner was once the feared dominant mech and now only one vote. I'm the only one who voted for a spider.

Catapult, Hunchback, Raven, Cataphract, Centurion, then Atlas and in that order separated by one vote each. Everything else falls off the radar. Interesting.

Agreed. Mediums are probably the least important I would think (in a pug). Lately there seems to be either a lot of lights or a lot of assaults though and I am wishing this game had some sort of competency test for those players who score under 100 damage a game in a mech.

A bad player no matter what mech he is in can hurt the team though.

Edit : Catapult, hunchback and atlas are all a joke pretty much. If someone is using a catapult as an lrm boat in a pug, there is a great chance they will be worthless due to ecm, if they are using gauss you better hope they can aim or they will be useless.

Hunchback is probably the easiest mech to disarm since most of its weapons are in the torso which makes for an easy target.

Most people playing atlas are now just using DDC which is helpful to a point but I MUCH rather have an all srm stalker which can decimate any other mech quite easily.

The old fighter pilot adage holds true...

"It's the pilot not the plane mech."

Though at the moment I would say anything with ECM is the most effective way to help your team, even if you don't fire a shot, just providing one more ECM mech for your team is a big help.

A Cicada is a game changer in my opinion. Not much firepower, but you can cross the map quick, and deliver what little firepower you have in a hurry. I've done well in my spider and my centurion, but that Cicada is just so much easier to configure, and you don't have to compromise as much as you would a light.

I find I'm best in a catapult. Faster mechs I'm just too quick for myself in, and while I enjoy playing atlas, it lacks the the maneuverability that I get in other mechs. I think that the catapult is just right after how much I've played, whether it be up close with some srm or hiding out as an lrm boat

I'm starting to get the hang of my FANG and CN9-D. I'll be able to start holding my own with a few dozen more matches each. For now, though, the answer there is clear--RVN-3L. I LOVE hiding out and using TAG from a distance, and watching my teammate get BIG damage and a couple kills without ever seeing the mech he slags. There is NO BETTER FEELING WHATSOEVER.

That, and other things...
