Though generally feel as though I help more when I'm running my Centurion CN9-AL (traditionally based around a standard 255 and three large lasers, more recently an XL 255 with a multi-range weapons loadout to provide fire support in practically any situation), probably since it carries a fairly high amount of firepower, and is speedy enough to jump to a team-mates aid.

Catapult, Hunchback, Raven, Cataphract, Centurion, then Atlas and in that order separated by one vote each. Everything else falls off the radar. Interesting.

Hunchbacks are too easy to gimp in combat because all of the hardpoints are in one torso.
Agreed. Mediums are probably the least important I would think (in a pug). Lately there seems to be either a lot of lights or a lot of assaults though and I am wishing this game had some sort of competency test for those players who score under 100 damage a game in a mech.
A bad player no matter what mech he is in can hurt the team though.
Edit : Catapult, hunchback and atlas are all a joke pretty much. If someone is using a catapult as an lrm boat in a pug, there is a great chance they will be worthless due to ecm, if they are using gauss you better hope they can aim or they will be useless.
Hunchback is probably the easiest mech to disarm since most of its weapons are in the torso which makes for an easy target.
Most people playing atlas are now just using DDC which is helpful to a point but I MUCH rather have an all srm stalker which can decimate any other mech quite easily.

Though at the moment I would say anything with ECM is the most effective way to help your team, even if you don't fire a shot, just providing one more ECM mech for your team is a big help.
