This is getting ridiculous. Just dropped with 3 friends and we were dominated 3 matches in a row. The score boards all looked like this:

Every enemy team had at least 4 Ravens-3Ls and an assortment of other lights with ECM.

PGI, fix this now. We are casual gamers, not founders, and we're getting sick of this. Imagine how less dedicated people (read: new players) feel. Nerf ECM. Fix the Match Maker.

EDIT: Ok ok. So I've had an evening to sleep and cool off. I apologize if this seemed like a rage post. PGI has done a wonderful job with this game considering the amount of time they've had. As a poster said below, it has amazing art work, amazing graphics and great gameplay. Maybe I'm just a little impatient, that's all. Honestly though, I'm taking a break from this game until this stuff is fixed. Please help us casuals and PUGs who are getting stomped!

You're not the only one tired of packs of 3L ravens.

That said, right now it seems the matchmaker works better if you're not running a full 4-man.
Try splitting up into 2 groups of 2 and see how that goes.

I just want to enjoy this game. I enjoyed it last week. I loved it before ECM. But now its just a slog. A slog against light 'mechs and ECM. I'm a casual player. I want to have fun. And right now, I'm not. I'm just trying to emphasize to PGI that I (someone who doesn't frequent the forums that often) was upset enough to come here and complain. I don't know how else to get through to them.

I think this may be related to the weight class of mechs that groups used over the last 3 weeks.

If a group ran all heavies for the last 3 weeks their average Elo rating would be higher than it should be meaning now they face far more difficult enemies. If this same group never touched assault mechs during that 3 week period they should see easier matches if they were all taking assault mechs, at least that's how I understand the dev comments about Elo being different for each weight class.

It's the tournament. 3Ls due to ECM and streaks are the best light mech so people who want to compete with lights drive a 3L. Try again on Monday.

Sorry. No offense. I was just saying that I'm one of those people who PGI always mentions as "the majority of the player base" who hardly ever comes on to the forums. They claim that their telemetry tells them that ECM is balanced for people like me when responding to ECM QQ posts on the forums.

What's more the issue for you, them being fast or the ecm?

And out of curiosity and for empathy's sake, what build were you running when you happened to run into them?

I'm more a competitive player and I'm curious about what's giving you/your team the biggest issue here,

Because Ravens are very good, with or without ecm, being super fast, carrying two streak 2s and three mediums... That's a lot of firepower for that speed, not to mention it can keep its weapons firing every recycle time without overheating.

I'm hoping that the results from this will point a finger at certain things as OP. If Raven 3Ls outnumber all other mech variants among the top 25 or 50 or 100 in the light mech category then it's a pretty clear indication something needs to be done about them.
(Well more accurately the disorganizing effect of ECM, and how streaks just r*pe light mechs)

And by ELO setting you up against more difficult mechs it means the nigh indestructible Raven 3L. Me and 5 other guys actually managed to kill what must be the worst pilot of one, but it took up most of our ammo and 2 minutes of focus fire on its legs.

And yes the tournament only makes the 3L problem worse.

I agree with Sharg. I am a casual player. I used to get into competative drops all the time. Now I seem to always be in the group with no ecm and 1 assault mech getting rolled. Not fun anymore.

If 3Ls took the same damage as the rest of the light mechs(or heck even a medium mech), the ecm and streaks would be far less of a factor.

I was running a Dragon 1C that I thought was an OK build:

250 - 12 DHS
2ML
2LL
1SSRM2
1MG (hey, I know it sucks )

But my friends also had pretty decent custom builds. We play this game about once or twice a week together, and I think that we're alright at it, but not the best. But we have never never been trounced so badly, so many times in a row, and by the same 'mech.

That might have been me I just got it and I am use to driving catapults k2 and c1

Cmon man, PGI has known this for @#$%ing months now....what makes you think they are going to fix it?




To really balance out how the ECM works currrently, if they have no interest in nerfing the ECM itself, would be to make the Mechs that carry it much more fragile then they are currently. MM..30% less armor because there should be a DOWN side to carrying ECM>.


Thats what everyone is missing ...there is literally no downside to it for what it provides...none. Unlike tag, it doesnt even take a hardpoint.

I honestly wouldn't admit that in public lol

C'mon guys, don't you think the shrieking is reaching a bit of a high pitch here? Ravens are -great- mechs, but they're not the be all end all, and are nowhere near "nigh indestructible" when it has only 13 points of rear armor.

I was empathizing with the op, as he states he is a casual player and 3l's can definitely be used at lower ELO in a very cheesy fashion, however in higher elo games, 2 3L's happens often and most players have come up with a counter for it. (more often than not, that counter is to aim your weapons and fire at it, to be sure)

Though most of those people probably use the mwo subreddit (along with the developers) lol
