I know some players hate the World of Tanks examples but that stat system applied to mechs would at least be more useful than the current stat system.

On the subject of statistics, I'd love to see very in-depth analysis of personal and when appropriate team statistics available to players. I'd love to be abel to quantitatively determine where my weak areas are both in terms of weapons and chassis and track my personal progress over time.
Not quite sure what "achievements" the dev team are bringing in - are they listed in a post somewhere? If we're talking "achievements" such as Steam games have, I'd have to question the point. So I've got 500 kills. So what? How does that benefit me if, for example, my team never wins a match?
*shrug* fine for those that like that sort of thing I suppose, but I'd be dissapointed if some sort of achievement system offered incentives for selfishness over combined team performance.

After implementing a number of changes and then doing a stat wipe all players are then put on a level pegging.
Honestly I would love to see a lot more useful stats being shown to indicate the results of my gameplay. Achievements will be an interesting implementation but I do have concerns that this will bring about an increased selfish attitude of some players which could also encourage the use of hacks.
People have different need for stats and in the end I think that they create better value for the game being there than not.
Cheers!

I do have a warm smug glow within me when thinking about certain types of players putting such value in padding/maintaining them though.

Why? Stats are not used for anything at the moment - they can technically wipe them every morning and most folks won't even notice.
Stats are almost never used for anything ever, but it doesn't stop every game ever from having them. People like to be able to reflect on their time spent in game.
How does someone liking their stats affect anyone else that doesn't? If people don't like stats or don't care, why are they looking look at them?

If we are gonna have stats, the teams that sync drop pug stomp shouldn't be allowed to benefit when it comes to achievements for being tools.
More or less yes - it's necessary since I know there are a bunch of people out there who farmed when one or another part of the game was broken.
Personally I kind of wish that the wipe would come with rating based matchmaking as well. Though at least that will even itself out pretty quick.

The stats are going to be reset anyway so why not have fun.
Remember in CB when all the channels had 8 ppl in them?

Once hit boxes on lights are dealt with
Once net code is fixed
Once the modules they say will put ECM into check are introduced
Once match making is reworked to prevent sync dropping
Then by all means do the reset.
I don't do any of the above and I have only gotten better at the game since I first started playing. This will only hurt those who took advantage of every imbalance and bug and help those who haven't. I welcome it.
How will a stat reset hurt or help anyone?
