Dear Devs,

Going over the recent Ask the Dev's 30 answers I saw that this question was brought up and the answer was "maybe"

I'd like to plead strongly for this to become a "yes" answer.

Allowing people to target team-mates gives them useful information on how to act in many situations. Is that Stalker-3F I'm following into battle boating SRMS or PPCs??? The load outs that my team selects greatly impacts my role on the battle field and how I interact with my team.

To me, not knowing what my team is bringing to the fight makes it more difficult to be a good teammate and act appropriately in a team setting.

I am not advocating for target locks on friendlies...no accidentally locking your SSRMS to teammates in the thick of battle...don't need to exacerbate the Friendly Fire situation.

Please implement "target friendly" functionality.

Thank you!!!
Keep working hard to make MWO a great game!
=)

I can see them leaning toward the possibly no side, as it would just help out the team killing fanatics.

And the possibility that someone could mistake a friendly for an enemy and shoot them, thinking they used the "other" target button.

Just some thoughts on this. '(^.^)'

Usually you can tell what weapons your tm have when you see them fire...

This doesn't solve that 75% of teammates give you no clue when they are lrm boating. I'd suggest league of legends style showing exactly what our teammates have. Obv don't let us see other teams builds.

Agreed. Seems silly that you don't know what your teammates are bringing to the fight.

In another post I suggested the friendly targeting for the same reasons as OP, and a lot of responses were like the quoted post.
They wouldn't even need to put blue box around the friendly, maybe just indicate targeted friendly by the color of the blue triangle changing to green or have a border. It would change nothing at as far as mistaken FF or teamkilling.

To avoid the potential problem of people accidentally targeting and attacking their teammates in combat ("Oops, thought I was pressing the other target button" as somebody said above.), the Devs could expand upon the in-game "lobby" a bit. They should list the players names along side of their Mechs and Weapon Loadouts (obviously not showing the opponents this information).

Instead of just twiddling thumbs while you wait for the match to begin, you could be looking over your team and formulating a plan.

The PUG game play currently has no Lobby. What would be proposed for those folks. Apparently, the "bulk" of the work force?

It will be better if its a diferent function than the one with R, because you use that to shot someone. Like Starting battle screen with the loadout of the team like in wot.

It could absolutely be a different function than R! I would LOVE to bind this to my E key on the keyboard, currently vacant.

Target friendly would have to be a different function than target enemy so you wouldn't have to cycle through so many targets to get who you want. While we're at it, target under reticule should be thrown in too.

I would like this implemented as well, use the F key for target "F"riendly, but of course it could be reassigned to your choice in the config.

I'd like it, not only to see my teammate's loadout, but also so I can get more detailed information on their damage other than a percentage.

As for teamkilling simple make it impossible for LRMs and SSRMs to lock on a friendly target, you have to lock on to them in a two-phase lock for enemies anyhow, just stop it at the second lock.

Ever been sitting on a cap in late game with one Jenner and the rest of your team is dead? Ever wonder why said Jenner has a bit of smoke coming out and what he has intact? I know I have. At that point one has to wonder when it all boils down why can you so easily and readily be able to get good, solid, full information on an enemy and almost nothing on your friend. Just do it almost c/p of MW3 and the good will pan out.

Maybe add weapon info to the lance/team list, or create a separate screen to not clutter the battle view. Either of that would avoid any accidental fire issues while providing much needed info.

This was one of the first negative things I've noticed when I started playing MWO. PLEASE give us the ability to target teammates. It is ESSENTIAL!
