ohkay so i've been thinking about upgrades..
done a few over time but as MWO gets closer and closer I want to make my experience with MWO epic (cause more detail of stuff blowing up is always great! smoothness matters aswell.. which is why i'm stuck)

i'll start with current specs (using MWOs profiler rofl)

OS Version: Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate
System RAM: 8183 MB
CPU Name: AMD Phenom™ II X4 830 Processor
CPU Speeds: 2800
Physical CPUs: 1
Virtual CPUs: 4
Video Card Description: mv video hook driver2 (don't know why it puts that but its 2 6770s (1GB ram/each) in crossfire)
VRAM: 1024 MB
Primary Display Resolution: 1440x900
Multi-Monitor Desktop Resolution: 1440x900
Microphone: True
Language: English (United States)
Free Hard Drive Space: 242137 MB
Total Hard Drive Space: 953766 MB
Windows Experience Index Rating: 5.9

some things not mentioned is that the Motherboard is a Biostar TA990fxe (http://www.newegg.co...biostar%20990fx)
My memory (to be more specific) is 8GB gskill 1333 (http://www.newegg.co...N82E16820231426)

reading some other posts about upgrades got me thinking.. i'm half stuck between getting a processor, FX8120 or just the FX4100 or getting say a.. radeon 7970.. or something along those lines..
I've been thinking about the 8120 for a while but I keep hearing horror stories every now and then about it just being a fail processor.. if anyone has had some experience with them for some feed back with their "bulldozer" platform the video cards and CPUs make then that would be great aswell.. I currently have a phenom II x4 (as stated in the specs) and that line of CPUs have been great.. I wouldn't mind upgrading to another phenom processor if someone can show me some good ones.

I prefer AMD just because of price/performance ratios but if theres any honest selling point to a nvidia card (other than thats what MWO is using for their engine lol)

i've also been thinking about just getting like 3 monitors to replace my single LG 19 inch "TV" and run them in eyefinity with my 2 6770s. But I haven't gotten a chance to use eyefinty either so some feedback on that would be great aswell.

at the time of this post they're 129.99 but have been fluxing to about 149.99 every now and then.

8120's are good chips, i own one and i also own an i5 2500k machine really in a pure gaming aspect you won't notice a difference.
The numbers tell a different story but its not something the average user will ever notice.

And replace your Xfire 6770's with a single 7970
http://www.newegg.co...N82E16814161412

Keep your phenom II for now, nothing wrong with them, the AM3+ socket will allow you to upgrade it at a later date once we see what AMD's new processors can do later this year.

Edited for stupidity.

well your cpu ram gpu are all fine for mwo as far as we know, but your monitor is super gimp at 1440 900, even my laptops 17 inch lcd is true hd 1920 1080. so def monitor first, then cpu, then gpu.

even if I don't get 3 of the 1920X1080 monitors i'll probably just get 1 and upgrade the video cards for a single one that way i'll have true hi-def resolutions

Your setup is ok to play most games in higher, but not highest resolution. Only your monitor needs an upgrade. Then you can play in 19xx resolutuion instead og 14xx.... that;s a great improvement.

I honestly don't believe i've seen true 1920X1080 in person before.. so I really don't know the difference..
any suggestions on monitors? I own a VGA 1680X1050 22 inch and a LG LCD 19 inch that defaults to 1440X900..
best monitors I know of on paper are the Asus ones I posted in the first post.

EDIT: The LG is running from a DVI to HDMI cable so its technically HD

Monitor - get a LED Backlight Monitor and be happy.

This is my Monitor:
http://www.newegg.co...N82E16824001540

But taste is different so you should go into a store and look what sort of display you like.
I hate the glossy high polish displays very much for example.

I have been spending the last three days emptying my C drive and formatting it and doing a clean install of windows. I still havent got around to putting games on it yet.

You don't need to replace a damn thing, just set your monitors to 1080p already.

The Thubian hexacores are discontinued AMD CPUs as it is, I would recommend waiting on upgrading your CPU and either get an AMD FX-8350 around christmas or if you have a bunch of money to spend, get an intel haswell chip next year.

I would recommend a graphics card upgrade next after the the monitor, and given I am assuming you spent ~$200, i recommend a radeon hd 7850, 7870, or gtx 670.

Heatsink wise, I recommend either a Coolermaster Hyper 212 or a SilentX heatsink among the cheaper ones, though the SilentX fans are quieter and last longer than the coolermaster fans with sleeve bearings.
