The Cataphract pilot pressing a button, when it is very clearly a dial just seems wrong.

yeah um, my car radio has *dials* you can push. Complaining that you shouldn't be able to push a knob is silly and nitpicking. . I'm sure many controls have different settings/uses as to minimize the amount of *dials* and buttons in the first place.

edit: k n o b s is a filtered word-replaced with the less offensive *dials*

I bet it is not going to be cool 50 drops from now, it will seem boring, repetitive and one more thing to reduce my actual play time.

That's my thoughts after hearing it 10 times. I'd like to be able to mute the startup sequence.

I love the start up sequence, however, from what I read in the books, warriors didn't have so much clothing on. Most male pilots went shirtless under their cooling vest. It would be great if we could change the way the pilots looked to add a bit more customizing to it.

Sounds like a good way to make MC...

The sequence animation is pretty cool, but I'm already sick to death of the voiceover. Blah blah blah blah nominal.

Nice if we could disable that in options or something.

Not just most male pilots. The various Inner Sphere Houses and the Clans did not distinguish between male and female when it came to their mechwarriors' uniforms, and the mercenary companies mostly followed this example - where some sort of uniformity was enforced, anyways. A 'Mech cockpit gets tremendously hot in combat situations, so a pilot would usually endeavour to wear as little clothing as possible in order to better cope with the temperatures.

The cooling suit all pilots in MWO currently use seems like a "quick fix" that uses as little development resources as possible to appeal to as many players as possible. You don't see what skin colour the pilot has, and it could even be a flat-chested girl. Still, I too hope that we get some customization options for the pilot in the future - especially as cooling suits are supposedly rather rare, too. I'd certainly be willing to drop a few MC for a DCMS outfit! *shameless agenda bump*

I understand everything now.
Apparently is OK to love the new animation, but it's wrong to hate it.
I'm sorry for being so thick. Thick thick thick. That's me.

It has caused new bugs. Started at least 1 game with no HUD whatsoever post animation and heat shutdowns stay bugged.

The new startup animation instantanously broke immersion for me.

I don't see any reason to take camera control away from the player... it would be better to give the player free look by default during the startup or when shut down. Forcing me to look down on my avatar's hand feels unnatural.

How does it break immersion, if you are actually paying attention during the sequence your central view is on the controls he is pressing, not your hands. Exactly like someone would do in real life. "Look at the buttons you are pressing." Durign a fight/flight there are things that become automatic from muscle memory, but at the start up it makes perfect sense you would actually look at the sequence of buttons you are pushing.

Nah, you aren't thick. It's perfectly fine not to like something. I just am curios on what level it breaks immersion, as in my previous post I give a solid ideal why it should fit immersion.

An experienced mech pilot would not be looking at his buttons...he's done it 1000's of times before :P I don't know about you, but I don't look at my keyboard when I log in. Plus, the animation is more of an indicator of full head movement (head movements are equivalent to FOV swings, eye movements are your actual eyes looking at pixels, so they don't register).

I like the animation, I just think they should have free look activated during it.

Pilot uniforms would be a good MC cash cow, male/female models would be genius.

I love the fact that this is in now but I feel most of the animations could have been done better. The time used to hold down a pair of buttons could have been used to push a few more and make it more dynamic. It's noticeable that in some cases an attempt to save time has been made by making the stick test motion faster, which looks a bit silly in my opinion.

Very happy that they used the 9-10 seconds before the match to put this in but I just think they could optimize the animation time usage to make it feel more like the Atlas drop trailer.

Well , if we love the animation , i guess the devs will extend it , or add stuff on it.
If we hate it they'll subtract things from it , or kill it entirelly.

I LOVE IT THOUGH!

I sure for a visual warning on immediate shutdown , cause when you're getting pounded it's hard to listen to betty.

Probably been said already, but there's about a second delay between seeing everyone else's mech power up and powering up your own.

Assuming that we're all supposed to be powering up at the same time, it could probably use a tweak.
