Game Freezes But No Crashes To Desktop From The Middle Of A Match

Hello guys

I have changed my Advance Network adapter settings (Realtek) and since then i got no more freezes.

Setting with Crashes.

unloading of large transmission v2 (ipv4) : Deactivated
unloading of large transmission v2 (ipv6) : Deactivated

Energy efficient ehternet : Activated
flow control : RX & TX Activated
Speed & Duplex : 1.0Gbits and full duplex

with a new hd 7870 i also get blacks and freezes and if i try hard enough i get BSOD's


error if it freezes and i terminate it.

For some reason the problem is gone... played for 6 to 7 hours yesterday, no hickup and didn't use any workaround. Perhaps the new Nvidia Driver .22 helped?

I've experienced these freezes off and on for a bit. One thing I've noticed is they only ever seem to occur when I am running in a group and using Ventrilo.

I experience this issue and for me I believe it has something to do with missiles. When I fire multiple volleys of LRMs, I get a freeze in the game. Just now I emptied my LRMs (single shot at a time to avoid issue) and thought "oh good I won't crash now." But then I saw an enemy get pelted with missiles and got the same freeze.

Just confirm above. I have observed in the 5 or so hangs since the last patch that all instances occurred upon LRM impact on an enemy mech in my field of view. Not always in my line of sight, but always in my field of view.

Tired of the bloody freezes. This is a BIG issue that doesn't appear to be taken seriously. Many reports over the last 4 months with apparently nothing being done.

Have had my game freeze twice on me now. Both times while either moving forward or backward. So my mech was stuck in motion and my sound also went out. But as soon as I triggered a mouse key to fire, it un-froze lol

I am a new member and sign-up for this game, 2 week ago...

Here is my spec (using CPUID)
Inter Core 2 Duo 8400 - 3 Ghz. LGA755
ASUS - P5QDeluxe
8 GB RAM DDR2
ATI Radeon 5870
80GB SSD (For XP and Win7 64Bit)
1TB WD (Where mech is installed)


Okay, here's for the technicians...
In windows XP 32bit SP3, I can play MechWarrior Online with no problem at all!

In windiws 7 64BIT, it happens.. .it freeze there.. and I have to end task.

Im not sure if it was DirectX 9 or 11 issue, I am not sure if it is platform of OS issue..etc etc...
But I hope this somewhat, help you to find the bug.

I have this problem occasionally too and I've also found that I can quickly alt-tab out and back into game and the issue rights itself.

Never had a CTD yet - AMD/nVidia

Getting this every 1-2 games, its getting insane. Updated to new ATI drivers and still nothing. My game freezes randomly and alt tab doesnt unfreeze it.

I have been crashing like crazy today. I hope they fix this soon. I hate to leave my team hanging because of these crashes.

I started getting this much more back in late April early may. Not sure y but its been a long time since I've actually been able to play with my group for more then 2 games before freezing on me.it started with being able to alt tabbing out then back in but those times r gone. Always just goes right to a black screen if I try to alt tab when it freezes. Have to Ctrl alt del to task manager to kill it. I did however play on my older PC and put my video card in it from my newer pc last week all settings where on lowest so the game totally sucked but I didn't crash or freeze for 4 hours. Very strange I haven't had 4 hours of play time with this game for 2 months

I have the exact same thing happen to me, game freezes have to Alt Tab and if i go back there is only a black screen to meet me. From there it's control alt delete. I hope this problem (being one many players have) is on the top of their "to do list" right next to creating more dashboard items.

This makes me sad; I have played Battletech/MechWarrior since the 80's. I love the game and when I found out about MWO I was very excited. I feel that this is one of the best MW games ever. Unfortunately, I have the same issue as hundreds of other players, screen freezes with no resolution (save alt+f4). At the time of this post there where a stunning 9 pages of posts concerning it. Just in case you were wondering Piranha, now is a good time to give a response to this issue. I for one would rather you push back the release date and or any other content until this URGENT CRITICAL Error is dealt with. Just think of how embarrassing it will be for you to launch MWO with a critical error that’s only fix is to shut down the game. As a loyal fan of the MechWarrior franchise it is with a heavy heart that I now must refuse to spend another penny on MWO until this issue is resolved.

I know nobody will find the humor in this that I do but I have amongst the crappiest computers that can handle MWO at 1920x1200 on medium with an E8400 core 2 duo and 550ti with 4gb of DDR3 on a bizarre hybrid ddr2/ddr3 Gigabyte I had to buy from Hong Kong because I needed that socket for the hand-me-down E8400. I also seem to experience this crash at a fraction of the rate of most of you and I have a much higher success rate of recovering it by alt-tabbing or re-focusing via task manager.

I can only rescue it maybe less than 1/4 of the time but I'm always thrilled when I do. My friend swears it's more successful if you ctrl-alt-del to the task manager and press Switch To...

I just read this entire thread and it seems to occur across video cards, across a variety of machines from monster 690s to guys rocking 250s on what must be a laptop? I definitely experience it when **** is going down, and for me that always seems to be close-quarters but that might be because I don't know how to fight any other way.

I feel very sorry for anyone experiencing crashes every round. I get it ever five rounds max and I go entire afternoons never experiencing it. My temps are low thanks to water cooling.

Gigabyte motherboard (it's not a hardware issue so I'm not getting detailed)

I personally am convinced it is a background windows task doing something right at a peak-action moment that combines for a crash (why would tons of action choke a 550ti less often than a 690?). I ALWAYS hear my hard drive thrashing in the 2 seconds before a crash like my ******** AntiVirus is kicking up a scan and doing something stupid with a file that MWO is going to need.

If you're running Windows 8... what were you thinking? You can still buy Windows 7 licenses. Get with the times. I don't care if it came with your computer.

Friend with i5-3570k, 8gb ddr3 @ 1600 (Corsair?), 660ti, asus z77 something, but 120gb kingston ssd and win 7 64 home experiences half the crashes yet that I do and recovers over half of them by refocusing (task manager, switch to).

We both have 50mbit internet on Vancouver Island, near Vancouver (PGI) and Seattle which may or may not support the notion that it's a combination of peak particle and action, netcode, memory bandwidth, excessive caching, hits but here's one to cook your noggin, if the hits are the cause of crashing why does only one person ever drop from a match? I have literally never seen more than one in a match and never 2 or more at once. If it has multiple causes it will be harder for PGI to find it. This thread is also totally incoherent, more so than this post, you'll find if you re-read it that this bad boy is all over the map and even people with error logs never have the same information twice.

I encourage everyone to relax and anyone complaining about lost premium time ought to reconsider their spending habits. If you bought a quarter or 6 months or a year I feel your pain but you get more flies with honey than you do vinegar and civil correspondence through the appropriate channels (not PMing a lead developer and feeling entitled to a response) will be the only way you will make any progress.
