Stoneface in post #54 has a link to the thread about setting your max fps.
i haven't experienced any crashes since enabling vsync and have played more than 50 games. Do not have to ALT-TAB either. Just launch and play normally.

Win7
Nvidia GTX670
Random in-game lock-ups
Seriously annoyed my Premium time is ticking away while I can't play.
To top it off, it doesn't seem to award me XP/Cbills when I screen-freeze like this. Even for the match where I had 3 kills before freezing out and then my team won.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!
Tried shader folder delete: didn't fix.
Tried vsync: didn't fix.
Tried updating graphics drivers: didn't fix.

Today 314.07 is released, but i had a crash in the first game! I would assume, that the cryengine 3 enhancements doesn't work very well with MWO.
If i play in fullscreen, the game freezes in fullscreen, can't even see the task manager under WIN8 ... i only can log out and log in in Windows again.
If i play in Window-Mode, i get the "cryengine - command buffer overflow" ... i would say, that both are the same error, but i can't the the window in Fullscreen mode.
So please.... fix that damn bug. With all that information you must find the error very fast to patch it.
My System: Win8 64Bit, Z77, Core i7, Nvidia 680GTX

Screen froze as I was walking accross the bowl in front of the dropship, with seemingly random audio fragments.
But as I was In a group when I dropped, I was informed that my mech was still responding to my commands (although extremely sluggishly) and I ended up walking to the other side of the map blindly.
At the end of the match the scoreboard popped up, and the game ended normally.

Sorta glad I'm not the only one.
I will try dumping shader cache and c alt+tab and see if that helps.
I would tread carefully on other shader files.

If you go into your install location for MWO then /USER/Shaders/, and delete the "Cache" folder, it will temporarily fix the problem. Works for 10+ games minimum for me usually, then go back and delete it again, and works for another 10+ games. Just restarting the game w/o deleting the cache will usually only get me through 1 or 2 games, and often times will freeze on the 1st game back in. So it definitely helps.
Wonder if one could create, or build-in a script(option in-game) that would flush the cache after every game, or at least when MW:O executable is terminated or closed. Or better yet, when MW:O is opened... hey I can probably make a .bat to do that...
edit:
Okay, made a .bat
Quote
CD E:\MWO\MechWarrior Online\MechWarrior Online\Bin32\
MechWarriorOnline.exe
Copy then paste that into notepad, replace the locations with your install location, then save the document as MWO.bat and make sure file type is set to all files.
Edit 2:
If you use steam, like I do,
1. steam.exe needs to be set to run as admin(Properties>compatibility settings)
2. gameoverlayui.exe needs to be set to run as admin(Properties>compatibility settings)
3. You'll need your customized .bat and this: (http://download.cnet...4-10555897.html)
4. After testing your batch file open the converter application(32-bit, regardles of ver. of windows)
5. Select your batch file and output folder
6. Set visibility option to Invisible and check "Add administrator manifest"
7. Make sure you disable any anti-virus active protection, as the creation of the .exe looks like a trojan at least to MSE
8. Compile your exe
9. test your new exe
10. re-enable your Anti-Virus
11. Go into steam and add your new .exe as a game, or edit the existing entry for MW:O you already had so the Target location is the exe itself(in quotes) and the Start In location is the folder that houses your new .exe
Works for me. Just forcing steam to use the .bat would open MWO and clear the shader cache, but wouldn't let the overlay start.

They haven't been able to find it with me providing them logs every day for four weeks.

River City (normal), happened after launching LRM's (yeah, go figure, right?)
Alpine - was able to fight for about 8 minutes, then locked.
3x Forrest Colony - different areas.
AMD Drivers are up-to-date.... attempting their Beta drivers to test.

I have a GTX 670 and tried 310.90 and the new 314.07, it crashes anyway.
So it's not the new driver!
I also tried reinstalling MWO but that didn't help either.
It has to be an error in the new MWO code because nothing else changed here!
(And obviously I could play for a long time without a single crash before the patch)

NVIDIA 670 with both new and old drivers
Windows 7
As of last night, a new installation of the game
When I had the three lockups in a row, I was running everything at Very High settings. When I tried using High settings, the frequency of lockups seemed to be reduced but not eliminated (once every two or three matches). I haven't tried enabling V-Sync or any of the other suggestions on this thread but will do so tonight.

Devs asked for crash dump files, if created by the game. If not, then can create one by right click the MWO executable and select Create Dump File. But the size is HUGE, over 1Gb for another player. For me it did not work, access denied while trying to create the dump file. I wish there would be a solution. But it seems that everyone having it experiences it when missiles hit a target in your vicinity and looking at it and/or firing at the target too.

After the second shut down, my bios says that overclocking failed. Turned it down. After that, windows fails to boot, 2 times in a row, hard error, no options what so ever (getting worried now). After that windows manages to suggest a recover from the last restor point, works, now I can boot again. But no internet connection. Reinstall wlan drivers. Connected again. Going to the forums after more than one hour of trouble shooting (for less than 2 minutes of gameplay), figure I'll feel better after complaining. Done.
GeForce GTX 680 with 8 GB, driver 306.97 (update to 314.07 in progress right now). Intel i7-3770 with 4 cores, running at 4.7 GHz, 16 GB RAM, Windows 8 Pro 64-bit.
Will try V-sync next and the new driver next.
Edit: Happened again with the new drivers and V-sync on after reboot. 3 out of 3 matches now. I deem the game completely unplayable at this point. Needs to be fixed right away. Never experienced anything near this bad before, not even during closed beta.

Confirmed: Random freezing issue resolved by deleting the "D3D9" folder located in:
"C:\Games\Piranha Games\MechWarrior Online\USER\Shaders\Cache" prior to launching game.
Specs:
OS: Win7
CPU: I5 3550P/ASUS P8Z77-V LX
GPU: HIS 7850 IceQ
HD: SSD 6.0
Edit: This fix only lasts a full map cycle before needing to be done again.
