All it confirms is that an XL-engine protrudes into the side torso restricting available crit space in exchange for extra tonnage. It doesn't necessarily mean that XL-engine mechs will be destroyed upon destruction of the side torso. I'd say it's highly probable, but we don't know for sure until they say so or we play it and find out.

Good catch on the variant there, I avoid Facebook like the plague so I would never have seen that.

Obviously we don't know what that number means exactly, I just thought it was funny thinking of an atlas going 437km/h.

The AS7-K and the AS7-D have the same hard point lay out. Lasers in the arms and torso, Missles in the right torso and a big gun in the Left.
The only difference is the oh so expensive XL engine.
So we can now predict the variants based on the Engine as well as the slot lay outs.
And the Founders Atlas was the 22 million C-bill AS7-K and not just a repainted AS7-D.

It's strange though that the gun rack on the Facebook picture looks the same - while the DRG-5N's Ultra AC/5 is different from DRG-1N's AC/5, here the Gauss rifle of the AS-7K looks just like the AC/20 of the AS-7D.

The loadout was probably meant for anti-infantry or even anti-vehicle. Try to remember that the machines weren't necessarily built to just blow each other up. The battlefield scenarios of the B-Tech universe were quite expansive and you can find rules for personnel, buildings, ground/air/sea vehicles, and even land mines. My point being you wouldn't waste an LB 10-X shot on a Jeep or troops in the open because it just is not cost effective. Try not to "gamism" too much guys.

I'm not too involved in the background, but isn't the K a 3050's variant?
