You don't remember "external camera.........engaged"?
Course you don't cause half ya'll are noobs and this is your first mech game.
And I want to see my pimped out mech.
Are you guys so scared of 3rd person? is that really gonna up the skill for the kiddies who can't handle 1st?
I thought this was Mechwarrior.........I must have accidently stumbled into MechWuss online.
If 3rd person could make any y'all better they oughta give you 4th and 5th person too.
I don't know how you can start whining over something you haven't even seen yourself, what they got in mind might be absolutely impressive, you don't know.
You lucky my printer is broke.......i'd print this thread just to have a list of wuss i got to spank in game.
i remember very well that 3rd person was available on mw2-3 and 4 but it's not a necessary item and it would be abused for checking round corners etc, also the cockpit work shouldn't go to waste. i voted i don't care for now but if anything i'm in the no camp. it may have been apart of old mechwarriors where maps were mostly sparse so little advantage was gained but in river city seeing that mech approaching around the corner would be cheating those playing a simulator.
evidence can be found here --->http://mwomercs.com/...m/page__st__120
yes 3rd person is mechwarrior and fine for those games with those nothing to see landscapes but in this game where you weave through buildings and have to peer over ridges a lot it would corrupt the game.

The game doesn't need a 3D mode to become noob friendly. It needs a tutorial and stock mechs designed for this game's heat system, or a heat system compatible with the Battletech stock mechs. And a match-maker that avoids grouping experienced players vs inexperienced players.

that and a training "mission" so you learn using controls rather than be disoriented that the vid made it look easy etc etc.

*BUT* I'd like a rear view camera (or giant wing mirrors:-P) and I've no objection to a third person view as a module since better sensors all seem to be module (at stupidly high prices for not generally a massive advantage).
Or implement it as a bit of equipment - taking space and tonnage like a sensor buoy or similar. use it or AMS...
As an aside, is an extra 0.75 seconds before target decays really as dangerous as a complete CTF-1X?

Is 3rd person view for recording stuff, also was talks about how nice it be for if replays to be recorded.
This 3rd person idea is old and has been shot down plenty of times by PGI
It will not be introduced into the game modes we have now.
If it was it would be on something like testing grounds.

Looks like the trend in this poll is the same as in the previous poll:
NO - 133 (88,6%)
YES - 9 (6%)
I think it is time to close this unfortunate topic and move on to more important feature dscussions.

yes i remember... that i never used it because it was horrible and unimmersive...
i would have prefered a real cockpit in MW4 (as in MW3 and a nice try of it in MW2) over the 3rd person camera and that ugly HUD overlay

3rd Person is a terrible idea. It is scary that they even consider it. They might lose a lot of customers if it gets implemented.

I grant that they might implement it in an ok fashion, but it'll probably cause more problems than it fixes.

3rd person view will NOT render more, then you would be able to see out of your cockpit. Plus you very likely CAN VOTE NOT TO PLAY WITH 3RD PERSON VIEWERS in the matchmaker.
Listen to the NGNG podcast in question and stop the uninformed rambling, guys...
