and if they do a 1st person que and a 3rd person que theyre just gonna split the players even more

Assuming they actually do the split queues thing and it doesn't just go the way of "we won't add Coolant Flush."

Yep, they refused that concept claiming splitting the playerbase was bad, then their first knee-jerk answer to 1st/3rd person was to split the playerbase into 1st and 3rd person queues.

...and they wonder why I don't trust the devs' word as far as I can drop-kick a bull elephant. :D

ENABLE 3RD PERSON VIEW OPTION IN TESTING GROUNDS!!!
And make a tool tip pop up that says "Press ALT+F4 for 3rd Person View"
But that's all.

lol, no. Seriously though, make 3rd person accessible in testing grounds. Like press Home key to switch between first and 3rd. Make it a message that shows up in the Chat window.

"Press "Home" key to switch between 3rd and 1st person view."

and Free-look lets you spin around your mech so you can check out your sweet variant and paint.

It won't break the game.. and I still like the thought of being able to see my 'mech from the outside (whilst fighting). Go ahead, put me in a different caste... if that's what it takes.

Single player only. It can be used to look around corners or over buildings.

Yeah, it's an old trick back from when closed beta was around lol... then open beta.. so many people fall for it lol.
A guy on my team did team chat and said "Don't press alt+f4 or listen to what i say"
then in open chat he says to press alt+f4 for third person. 2 people on our team disconnect right away.. lol!

It was an absolutely ancient trick even then. It's been around since Windows took over from MS-DOS.

I wouldn't mind it if it was done in such a way as to allow exploitation of LRMs, but nothing else (perhaps with tweaking to jump jets). Also, using third person should cause your mech to ignore the effects of ECM.

so how are they communicating with this majority of the playerbase that they seems to be talking to to come up with the idea that theres a big enough group out there that wants 3rd person view do you think?

They have metrics they can look at and watch people's behaviors as they perform them, as well as submitted bug reports, feedback, as well as internal testers (read: random schmoes pulled off the street) or "focus groups" to observe. Forums are hardly the only way or even the preferred way to get feedback, as forum posters tend to be pre-biased anyway.

Voted an emphatic No.

One thing that does irk me though, is the whole "new players need 3rd person to get used to the torso twist" argument.

Utter. Total. BS. How in the hell did the rest of us get used to it without 3rd person then, hmm? That's right. Using the stuff between our ears and opening our f***ing eyes. If you pander to the lowest common denominator, you will get a wishy washy POS. Don't do it. There are some things that you should adopt a "Don't like it? Don't play" approach. This is definitely one of them.

It won't break it but it will make it suck. I'm not going to repeat why. Its been explained a million times how it provides an advantage.

It won't "break the game", but I wouldn't like to see it.

Options are good. Options that aren't really options, as they're required to be competitive, are not good.

Not only this ^

It also drives the game toward a more arcade feel rather than a "I'm piloting a mech" sim feel. If you want to look at your mech, you can. All day long in the mech bay.
