Double Heat Sinks (Again)

Not really an energy guy, so I figured I would try the Hunchie 3P. Left everything stock, except I swapped the SL for a ML, and grabbed 23 HS. So 9ML 23 standard HS. It runs VERY hot. So thought I would upgrade to double heat sinks. I should have plenty of space since it is standard internals and standard engine. WRONG.....
Currently, the 3P has 8 engine HS + 23 standard HS for 31 heat sinks. If I upgrade to doubles, I am unable to put any in the CT or Legs, so I can only fit 9 double heat sinks. Please someone, let me know if my math is off.
8 double engine heat sinks + 9 external HS at 1.4 = 28.6 standard heat sinks worth of cooling.
So why is double HS a 1.5 million Cbil upgrade when you actually get less cooling? I am completely confused as to how this is an upgrade on many mechs? Am I missing something about double HS?

Engine heatsinks upgrade to 2.0
single heatsinks upgrade to 1.4 as you said
So in theory if you do not equip AMS and get the 10 double heatsinks you get a total of 30 single heat sinks worth of cooling. Less than what you had before but with the upgrade you dissipate heat a bit faster. Faster heat dissipation=more shots=more damage.
Is it worth 1.5 million? In my opinion, yes

That will give you two extra internal engine slots, which will give you the ability to load up the equivalent of 32.6 heat sinks.
While the heat efficiency isn't dramatically different, you are only spending 19 tons of heat sinks, instead of 31, which is a HUGE difference.

you basically trade slots in for tonnage much like endosteel or ferro fibrous. also like they mentioned before it makes engine heat sinks far more valuable. although last i heard the engine heatsinks were at 1.4 as well, and that seems to fit with what i have experienced gameplay wise.

you will be able to modify to your hearts content to find the optimal loadout for you. as for the heatsinking, keep an eye on the cooling efficiency on the left to give you a rough idea on how you will do. If you make note of the where you start with the base loadout you can easily tell how much better or worse you'll do.

Any build that can go with more tonage can also consider the upgrade as worth the cost. For example, by going pulse lasers. So more dps.
Lights and mediums love DHs in nearly anything. Anything with a big engine love DHs because they can put more in the engine slots.
A little engine with a lot of normal heatsinks is basically the only configuration where they aren't good, but it's more the build having a problem than the heatsinks having one.

That's 6 tons you could use for anything... for example a bigger engine, like a 225, that can fit even more heat sinks.
It seems like there is a lot of misunderstanding about engines, heat sinks, and how this all works. Let me post what I know, and then you can see if my logic is flawed.
My hunchie has a 210 engine. That engine only had 8 heat sinks in it and requires 2 heat sinks external to run. (every mech MUST have 10 heat sinks on it. Either in the engine, or external to be able to run.) I have 8 internal engine heat sinks and 23 external standard heat sinks. 8+23 = 31 simple.....
Now... if I change to double those 8 engine heat sinks are 2.0 so count as 16 heat sinks. Due to critical space, I can only fit 9 external double heat sinks, which count as 1.4 each for 12.6 heat sinks (equivalent) 16+12.6 is 28.6
So I LOSE cooling ability by 'upgrading' to double heat sinks. I also lose 1.5 million Cbills. I understand that I save a bunch of weight, but I am out of critical space in the mech already, and I am out of weapons slots. This is why I asked what I was missing....because an upgrade should be just that. An UPGRADE!

Ultra Weng's and Ultra Muromets have to be careful on ammos. Even Ballistics+SRM6s Atlai have.
