BEFORE YOU VOTE!

This is NOT meant to be a bragging thread. I made the poll keep answers secret.

So, why do it? Simple, if enough people actually seriously respond we can get an idea where the average gamer lies. I have read multiple posts saying this or that KDR means you are doing OK or good, even other stating what the average player is. So, here can actually get a feel for what is "average".

So, post up your current, as in RIGHT NOW KDR option. Let us see what constitutes average.

KDR means nothing about skill.

Worse than that, KDR actively encourages poor teamwork and bad behavior.

KDR should be removed from MWO, and soon.

I feel like you should have an >2 and >3 option as well. 1 --> 4 is a pretty big jump. And what the hell is with 6.5 and 8.5? Are these numbers just totally random?

In hindsight, I would have had another option or two, but as soon as I posted I had half a dozen entries. So, too late now. Will still be interesting.

No, the numbers are not random. Started at 10, minus 1.5, minus 2, minus 2.5, minus 3. Seemed like a good idea at the time.

EDIT: Not ideal, but it lets us break down the 1-4 catagory, which will likely be the largest.

mines .56 and I don't care one bit. I've used a few trash mechs just to get the XP and then ditched them and I've had a few (less than 50 I'd guess) extremely lopsided matches (the 50 means either side of the skunk) 332 / 489 w/l. I've had fun in all but maybe 2 or 3 matches.

I picked a bad time to level up another light though (I prefer the Hunchback, but I've been piloting Commandos and Spiders lately to get them leveled up and out of my stable.

To be clear Scraper, like I said in the OP, this isn't a brag thread. This thread is meant to be entirely for our, the gamers knowledge of what constitutes average. I learned a bit about making polls to, in a few weeks I will do it again and it will look a ton better. I hope we can get a few hundred voters though, it will make the totals more realistic, and help balance the gomers who just vote stupidly.

KDR does not equal skill (The symble for not equal to will not show). It just means they can get the killing blow more often then they die.

Totally agree that the KDR ruins teamwork. Too many times have I seen a team lose its shape because they are trying to kill that weaken light mech.

Not exactly correct. We'll get an average for players who actually read the forums and may or may not be representative of the base at large.

Amazingly, it should average out to a little under 1, right?
All kills cause the death of someone else, but some deaths aren't counted as kills.

True, but it beats just sitting around wondering. At least we will have some kind of sample.

To get such a number I would need everyones actualy KDR, and if I had that it probably would be something like that. As is, that one guy above 10, is he 10.01, or 100? All we really get is an idea on where the general player is. I wasn't shooting to find a mean, just a median and mode.

I think in a day or two I will re-do this, with a better question/responses. I think the results will be FAR more interesting with a better setup.

KDR is meaningless. If I wanted my KDR to be 10 it would be...I'd just run the best mechs in groups. But I don't do that, I grind unupgraded mechs to get to elite, I pug, and I rarely play mechs I've already mastered. My KDR is at 2.25 as a result and I don't care.

Eventually PGI will give us stats for individual mechs (and hopefully weapons too). Then they might become meaningful.

Central Tendencies of Statistics of k/d should be centered and normally distributed around 0. That means about 66% of folks should be about +/- 3. Your data is biased.

KDR may be meaningless in the overall scheme of things, but I am curious to see what the results are nonetheless. Do the KDR's average out or not? One possible issue is in regards to DC's do get the loss? Or are people over 10 KDR also trying to optimize it for bragging rights?
