I think CW will just be some 12v12 matches. I doubt the server overloading will be as intense for this game.

But who knows...?

If it is that basic and they don't have plans to expand the game into MW:LL, I and I suspect many others will drop this game completely. I'm already not playing (and certainly not spending any money on) this game anymore because 8v8 10 minute matches are boring. It is the same thing every match. Stay with your team, focus fire = profit. It's boring.

and theres me thinking goons were the invention of segar for his popeye comics then adapted by allied forces during ww2 as dopey prison gaurds which later evolved as simply big idiots through comedy plateforms like bbc radio's 'Goon Show'.

oh well you learn something everyday...

As much as I'd love a huge map with mech bays to resupply/repair in that was persistent and you could just stomp around on to your hearts content...

I'm guessing CW will be like am improved, more in-depth version of WoT's clan wars - matches fought that decide territory (planet) capture.

That's exactly what I'm personally expecting.

Realistically speaking most gaming companies rarely build their servers to handle the very highest peak loads. It doesn't make financial sense, the peak is not consistent and the nature of online gaming means every peak will die, sooner rather than later.

Then you're left with unused capacity and the overheads that go with it for no perceivable profit.

Sadly.

Goons ruin everything. Blame goons for everything. SERVER LAG IS CAUSED BY GOONS TOO!

Also do you actually play games from South Korea or are you just talking crap? Because I do and I haven't had any problems with playing games except for when my ISP is being total jerk with undersea cable connection. Sure there's connection delay but it's manageable. Lag? I'm not the only one lagging anyway.

I'm pretty sure this game will never have to worry about too many players clogging anything up, sorry to make your unusually long post seem unnecessary...

I hate to say it but the goons use server overload as a tool. In eve they used to overload some of the nodes as fleet fights were about to start or to trap players in.

Yes, of course the black tide of goondom shall roll across the waters and modern computer technology shall not withstand the onslaught of data.

Or, actually, maybe a professional developer would have bought professional hardware to handle the rigors of...uh, people logging in.

I don't think MWO is going to have any problems with this. As everything is instanced, in normal MMO terms. Where as PS2 has everyone on one map, so it has problems trying to track and keep up to date 100's of people at the same time all in the same area.

As for Eve online... Its single Shard, so, they run a dynamic server cluster. Just tons of servers that shift the load as needed. I think it was early last year they updated their servers and networking code. They were able to handle about 1,000 players in one spot, all within view distance of each other, all fighting with no lag, so.

It's very very doubtful that we'll see anything more than 12 vs 12 this year.
