Bleh, really didn't want another monochrome filter. I'll take it for a new map though, still looks neat anyway.

(Instead of a WW2 plane, maybe a old, decaying overlord dropshop, but u get the idea im aiming for)
(I like these sand dunes. not too big and not too many, The ship in the desert reminds me of close encounters of the 3rd kind)
More old junk in the desert.
IMO what would make a desert map sucessfull would be the vastness of it,

I should probably start using a macro for "upper or lower?" for as many times as I've typed that.

Yes....and we need bigger maps. You have pretty much two choices on each map for a plan.......and some sub-choices for each choice...still not that many choices. I'm starting to really get sick of the current and really old maps we have right now.
River City: Upper or Lower?
Frozen City: Cave or Ridge?
Caustic Valley: Blitz Left/Right or Defend Crater?
Forest Colony: Water or Forest/Cave?
Desert map: run across desert or run into a sandworm's mouth and crawl out hit butt for easy cap?

I like that concept art a lot. Those jagged, crystalline crags sticking up out of the ground makes it look less "Earth" like and a little more alien, which is good since we're supposed to be fighting on many different planets and they would not all look like Earth, terraforming or no terraforming.

Something lke these:
Even this would be cool:
But for the love of all that is MWO, please add more color to the maps instead of using two color palettes! (e.g. dont make the darn sky the same shades as the terrain ...)
Throw in a fierce thunderstorm with crackling blue lightning if you have to, to break up the colors like below. Anything other then what we have now .. (sorry to the map artist, they look great but are really drab atm).

like dont take me wrong i actually like both river and frozen cities even more than their day versions but... its the same map
i still wish they would release map editor... like there are many good community made maps and modes for other games so why not... also you could make some contests for players that lets say a best map maker would be given some price
at the very least it can give some ideas to PGI

There is no map taking advantage of jump capable mechs.
There is no map where we can go over and under a certain structure without meeting each other, some sort of this on River City but it's hard to miss someone passing under, and besides that it leads to nowhere.
There is no map where you could reach a certain advanced sniping/scouting spot going through a unique path, River City again had sort of it on the west side hill, but now it's out of bounds.
You have only a few hiding spots from where you could surprise someone passing by heading to your home base.
All maps are just an arena with obstacles, which reminds me of Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot from Borderlands.

Do you have any idea how much time it actually makes to create a map? Obviously not. It takes a really long time to get everything working right, place all the detail, then thoroughly test everything internally to make sure everything works as expected. This more than 1 map a month stuff is a ludicrous idea for the small dev team that's working on the game. Hell, I know I wouldn't want to be one of the designers trying to get a map a month out.
